Not entirely sure on that, the side-to-side movement I illustrated would probably affect the steering as well assuming a static steering wheel/pitman position.

New to Jeeps: lift kit questions

Running heavy duty springs and nitro shocks on a stock weighted vehicle... it's going to ride very stiff, little bumps will unsettle it, and traction on uneven roads will be very poor.

Dude, that's gonna ride like a skateboard.

Little update... Ditching the 8.8. A number of things popped up after I let the dust settle on this project that really disappointed me: Front rake, this lifted the rear over an inch and upset the balance of the Jeep. It was driving nose-heavy and riding like shit. Found out that I would need...

    Assistance with bump steer

It's the front track bar 100%. Just figured this out on my TJ after diagnosing the same issue: alignment was fine, wheels in-balance, etc... When you lift the Jeep and run an adjustable trackbar you're creating a longer lever and a different "swing angle" that the axle is traveling along...

It's a daily? I'd ditch the spacer lift and downsize to 31s. It'll ride better with the stock suspension geometry and you'll get better gas mileage with the smaller tires. (31's still look cool).

Bad pulley. I'd wager it's that idler pully. If you have an extendo-magnet thing press the magnet against the bolt holding the pulley and you'll be able to feel the vibration. Not like the motor running vibration feeling but more of a buzzing.

At Chinaman's Gulch? I'll pass on this one, long drives on these 3.07 gears suck. Edit: I could drive the Volvo out and be a ride-along if anyone needs an "event photographer" :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, saw that. It's rolling now, been driving it to the grocery store and around the block to make sure everything's "solid".

3.07s just feel tired on road or trail. 4.10s make it chirp tires just leaving my driveway. I have a rebuild kit sitting in the garage because I didn't know what state it was going to be in. It kinda makes a "wet" squeaking sound going around turns (if that makes sense). I'll probably rebuild...

TBH gearing and having open diffs have been the biggest limiting factor so far. Going up stuff like MSV and Kelly Flats are a cakewalk but Red Elephant Hill required a little more thought but it was a lot of fun. I went wheeling with another from our club that's a JLUR on 37s and got him...

I'm debating between a 32x11.5 and these 33x9.5, kinda splitting hairs but I'm keeping the TJ "simple" after reading many posts about people wishing they kept their Jeeps mild. 4.10s feel a little short on my 31s I bet they'll be perfect on 32s fwiw.

Not yet, busy disappointing myself with this 8.8 swap.

Closer than we've ever been to getting this TJ back on the road. Cut the studs so I could fit the wheel spacers on and got the rear brakes pretty much sorted. I'd be driving it to the gym in the morning but I snapped the hard brake line as I was bending it for the driver side... Just need to get...
