What did you do to your TJ today?

I have some boulders in the alley to keep single cell amoebas from driving over my property. One of them was set too far back. I used my Jeep, the winch, and the recovery gear to drag it about 6 inches and put it in a better spot. It worked, but it also made me realize that I need to practice...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I had the AC system charged up. When I bought it 3 years ago, the AC didn't work well. I had it charged up and it worked fine for a bit, but then it wasn't working a few months later. My mechanic checked it again. He said there is no detectable leak in front of the firewall. Over the winter, I...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I've got a spot on the passenger door where something fell on the door, dented it, removed the paint, and it started to rust. I actually have a color matched paint pen. What's the best way to prep this to remove the rust, prep it, and paint this spot? Also, should I even try to remove the dent...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Had a similar issue last year. Crank, no start issue. Send the PCM out to get inspected and it came back fine. Turns out that the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor are different parts. Many websites get them mixed up. I replace the camshaft position sensor (passenger side...

If anyone finds this in the future, the bolts are F593 stainless steel hex bolts that are 5/16-18 and using anti seize, the torque specs are 128 in-lbs or 10.7 ft-lbs. Source

What did you do to your TJ today?

I need some help. I put on a MorRyde reinforced tailgate kit a few weekends ago. I need to make some adjustments. Does anyone know of the torque specs for the 8 bolts that go through the hinges and into the body and the tailgate? I'm looking around and it looks like it is 200 in-lbs (16.7...

Need a little help with new oil leak

I wish I could find a local place to fix my RMS for $650. I would rather do that than spend the 2-3 days to fix the RMS myself. I could theoretically fix it in a day myself, but I also know how my mechanical projects go and need a long weekend to do it.

Need a little help with new oil leak

A lot of rear main seal leaks are actually valve cover gasket leaks from the back of the engine. Check the VCG and see if it is leaking. If it isn't, then it is likely the RMS.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Oh, I also used my new DeWalt construction jack to help with the install of the tailgate reinforcement. This really proved to be an extra set of hands.

What did you do to your TJ today?

I got the Morryde tailgate reinforcement done. I am going to run without a spare tire for awhile. The spare that was on there was the factory sized spare from 2000. The Jeep has 33" tires on it. When I get new tires, I'll get 5 and put a full size spare on then. I know I will have to adjust the...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I am one lucky SOB! I started to put on the Morryde tailgate reinforcement kit. My Jeep has the T40 bolts that are painted over, and I heard nightmares about getting them out. I went to the store, got a couple of sacrificial T40 bits. Got home and got to it. Used 15-20 seconds of heat on each...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Replaced the AC accumulator over the weekend after replacing the evaporator core over Christmas. I think I did an OK job at it but we will see when I recharge the AC system.
