Cooling fan upgrade comparison: Explorer 11-blade fan and HD clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

@GoldenGorilla do you have any cfm measurements at the front of the condenser/grill with the 850w spal running full tilt? Id like to see the difference in flow between that and my delta fan through the cores. Also what radiator are you using?

Cooling fan upgrade comparison: Explorer 11-blade fan and HD clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

After reading through a bit of this thread, I see a lot of issues with fan speed with the AC on one of the cool things with the Delta controller if you can actually select the speed that you want your auxiliary input to be at I have mindset at four bars for 50% once the pressures in the cooling...

Cooling fan upgrade comparison: Explorer 11-blade fan and HD clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

Thanks! Those are older photos I’ve since wire loomed everything and mounted the relay under the controller. I also have 3m taped 1in weather strips on back of the shroud with 3/4in standoff spacers on the mounting bolts to get an effective 1/4in of squish and a full seal. Also I change to...

Cooling fan upgrade comparison: Explorer 11-blade fan and HD clutch versus SPAL 19" 850-watt electric brushless fan

Figured I’d throw my setup into the mix. I’m running a 18in delta pag brushless setup rated for 4200cfm and 1000watts shroud is custom out of 1/8in aluminum there controller does pwm modulation for 8 different fan speed. You can set a low speed on, high speed on and off temp. Fan ramps up as...

Adding a cabin filter on my 97 TJ

So superior it had to be modified to fit and the screws it came with were the wrong size 🫣

Adding a cabin filter on my 97 TJ

The guy on eBay that makes the 3d printed version that’s more expensive says in his listing that the Chinese knocked off his design in assuming this is the one he’s talking about. I’m buying from the original innovator and USA based manufacturer because I hate the fact that the came in and...

I tried both bigger is definitely better in this case but the 18 was still a minor improvement

    TJ overheating at idle

Checkout the last 5 pages of this thread out i used a 19in derale 6 blade fan (17919) and a (22160) usmw fan clutch and have had very good results in temp reduction at idle comparing head to head with the stock fan keep in mind you will need to modify your factory shroud to make sure it doesnt...

Improving the cooling on our TJs

I added a $30 Hayden power steering cooler today I used 3 1/2in rubberized clamps and some zip ties to mount it seems like the perfect little budget cooler!

Improving the cooling on our TJs

It’s around 1/2-3/4 of an inch it hasn’t contacted anything so far it a derale 17919 fan and I’d say it similar in noise but a much higher arguably worse pitch it’s higher and more whiny but worth the performance improvement for me I also had to re drill the shroud to make sure it was centered...

Improving the cooling on our TJs

Ok so I took out the 19in 6blade fan fan today to make some direct comparisons to the stock 5 blade fan I measured from 5 different areas in the grill using the same meter the 6 blade fan pulled a 1mph faster avg airflow than the 5 blade at idle 5.63mph to the 6 blades 6.58mph also during my...

Improving the cooling on our TJs

Yeah my oem fan would have probably had my temps 10degrees warmer based on my experience. Maybe I’ll swap my fan again and get some speed measurements on the oem and see how it compares to the 19in derale

Measure from top of grill slots also all my data is at a 720-750 rpm idle
