Woman forced to sell her dream car after paying $40k in interest over 3 years

I think people (especially younger) are just programmed to have debt, and that debt is normal. I graduated college in 2014. It took me 5 years, I commuted, worked a full-time job, and paid as I went. That isn't even possible today, so most college students graduate with a ton of student loan...

Woman forced to sell her dream car after paying $40k in interest over 3 years

When dating, these kinds of financial issues are a huge red flag for me.

What did you do to your TJ today?

It should have an oil slinger behind there usually mounted next to the crank gear if that's what you mean. I haven't had the cover off yet, I took the pic last night at my stopping point and hope to continue today after work.

Woman forced to sell her dream car after paying $40k in interest over 3 years

"They took advantage of me because I'm female" No, they took advantage of someone who was willing to pay whatever they could to get the new shiny thing. This is WAY more common than people realize. I have a friend who is a service advisor at a new car dealer. Tons of people come in needing...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Leaking water pump and harmonic balancer replacement has turned into replacing the timing chain and timing cover front seal.

What did you do to your TJ today?

That would drive me insane. Maybe it's because I work in IT, but none of the tech in cars impresses me. It all seems poorly executed and more of a distraction than something helpful. Carplay is the only exception, but the last thing I want to do on my way home from work is interact with...

    Bit of a confession

This is my 4th Jeep, but 1st Wrangler. I don't drive mine in the winter to keep the salt off of it, since my last 3 Jeeps rusted out from salt. Winter is even more of a dark depressing time since I don't drive it.

Any suggestions on what type of oil to use on a 97 Wrangler with 205k miles?

Many use diesel oil now (HDEO) in power equipment as it holds up well. Many diesel oils also now carry a gasoline rating like API SN, so they are perfectly fine to use in a gas engine. The only thing that might happen is a slight mpg hit. The main reason like you said that people recommended...

Any suggestions on what type of oil to use on a 97 Wrangler with 205k miles?

Most of the "conventional" oils now are basically synthetic blends. I remember back when I was using regular ol' Pennzoil 10w30 in the yellow bottle the folks at BITOG website said it was essentially a synthetic blend, and that was a few years ago back when I had an XJ.

Any suggestions on what type of oil to use on a 97 Wrangler with 205k miles?

I've had great success with Valvoline MaxLife synthetic blend 5w30/10w30 high mileage oil and Valvoline Maxlife synthetic high mileage 5w30 in my Jeep 4.0 powered vehicles. Pennzoil is great too, I did a few used oil analysis with Pennzoil on my old Cherokee XJ and the results came back great.

10 Worst Car Oil Filter Brands

Wix filters was bought out by Mann-Hummel which also owns Purolator. With the buy-out they changed a few things with the filters, many are made in China, and the internal construction of a lot of them has been made cheaper. For example, there are a lot of the Napa Golds that have a nitrile...

10 Worst Car Oil Filter Brands

I was the same way until the recent buy-out and quality issues. It's getting bad enough where some of the local Napas want to switch suppliers due to come backs.

    Aftermarket Exhaust Options

My buddy has the Thrush Welded on his XJ. Sounds like a loud mail truck and I can hear him when he is a mile away.

10 Worst Car Oil Filter Brands

Yeah I think unfortunately it is a race to the bottom with filter manufacturers unless you buy the most expensive line they offer. I've had decent luck with Fram Tough Guards, Fram Ultra, Purolator Boss, and Champ XL filters from RockAuto. They always seem to look good when cutting them open...
