    Backfire through the intake,won't idle

So, we took my wife's 97 tj to get groceries yesterday. When I started it after shopping it ran rough and backfired through the intake a couple of times, but then it straightened out and ran fine back home. Then this morning it started but wouldn't idle. She could keep it running by keeping it...

    Transmission fluid lost

Ok, after I posted the picture and question, it occured to me that someone had given me a 42lre for an '06 Rubi to use as a core. So I went out and rooted around in my shed. It turns out there's a little cheap pressed in aluminum plug in that hole. Anybody have any idea where to get a...

    Transmission fluid lost

I FINALLY got the jeep home and found that fluid gushed out of this hole but I couldn't find anything that belonged in the hole. No hose, sensor, wire or plug. anybody know what is supposed to be plugging that hole?

    Transmission fluid lost

I suppose that could be. There is fluid blown everywhere from the rear of the transmission pan back

    Transmission fluid lost

So I’m sitting waiting for the tow truck after my transmission blew out all it fluid. I got underneath and could find no sign of a broken line so where else could a major fluid loss come from?

    Ignition problems?

So, the 04 finally just wouldn’t start one morning and so I thought JKP must be right and ordered and installed a new Delphi fuel pump. I still had to cycle the key off and on but it started and I ran it down to Home depot and back with no problem. Later that evening no start again. The ignition...

    Fuel pump replacement

Wow! I've just been reading a bunch more threads on fuel pump issues and there have been quite a few comments about the bosch pumps failing. That is concerning!.

    Fuel pump replacement

Oh. Ok. So many of the after market pumps come as a complete assembly and I will have to disassemble my assembly to replace the pump with the Bosch? If so, are there other parts of the assembly that should be replace as well?

    Fuel pump replacement

Long story short, I need to replace the gas tank cradle/skid plate on My 97 TJ and I figured while I had it down I would replace the fuel pump. I have read that a lot of people think the bosch pump is a good one so I started looking on amazon for one. But I'm confused. The bosch pump shown...

    Ignition problems?

I have tried that. It doesn't seem to change anything. It sure seems to be tied to the ignition especially with the occasional limp mode symptom. It's like it's not always making a good connection somewhere.

    PCM, TCC, or torque converter?

For a long time I was a hard core manual tranny guy. I liked the hold back on the down hill and being able to bump start it etc. In fact my profile picture is in a YJ with the 5 speed, but i have really really enjoyed wheelin in this TJ with the automatic. Maybe I'm getting lazy ;)

    Ignition problems?

I recently bought a 2004 TJ Rubicon. (haven't figured out how to update the info on my profile yet) It seems to be having ignition problems. It usually takes 3,4, and even 5 tries of cranking a bit and then turning it off and cranking again until it starts. Also some times (rarely) after it...

    PCM, TCC, or torque converter?

Since I'm always frustrated by reading threads that don't end in a solution or conclusion I decided I should tell the conclusion on this one. I decided the problem was probably beyond my expertise and took it to a shop. They told me the torque converter had gone bad and spread metal filings...

    PCM, TCC, or torque converter?

Thanks Jerry. I had a feeling you were gonna say that about the ATF. So when you say flush the tranny, I assume that means I need to take it somewhere that has the equipment to do that?
