The rough idle was present at first start up

Almost a year ago I decided to pull the 2.4l four cylinder out of my 05 TJ to do a complete overhaul. Bored .40 over, all new parts in bottom end. Had the cylinder head redone at the same machine shop that bored the block. New valves, lifters, springs, etc. Also stuck a new set of Stage 1 cams...

I’ll have to bring up a service manual and find all the ground points! Should be an easy option to see if it helps. Plus it’s free so can’t hurt anything.

Now that you say this, I can recall the past few weeks here in michigan have been 90+ degrees and it ran like crap. This past week has been in the 70’s, with cool damp mornings and it runs like a champ. Interesting.

What should I be looking for exactly? I’m sure 02 sensors are good as I just replaced them not to long ago.

Yes Yes that helped a ton! Thank you! I think my cruise cable is from a 2.5l, or 4.0l. Is there anyway to buy a new cable or just shorten the existing one? If not I'm sure I can Jerry rig it to make it work.

Yeah I saw this thread and did what it said but when I went to connect the cruise cable into the throttle body the nub on the end was to small. I think the cruise cable I got came from a 4.0l and connects in a different way to the throttle body.

I have an 05 jeep tj with the 2.4 l engine. I got the factory cruise control parts for it since mine did not come with. When hooking up the speed control cable from the servo, I wasn't sure where it goes on the throttle body. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion or any pictures for reference.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to check it out but how do I go about doing it? Just take it off and look at it or would I have to just buy a new one and see if it fixes it?
