Road to 33's and now to 35's: order of updates?

Agree with the caveat on what @Yeti08 mentioned. A few of the trails I've looked at say they require 35", if that is a true requirement I might as well just get to 35".

I'm currently on 31's. Going to skip 33's and stop at 35's.

You are correct... but yeah, I my anxiousness is getting to the "new shiny" is there. More research and homework for me.

Road to 33's and now to 35's: order of updates?

Everything I'm reading here and in my post brings me back to having to have more conversations with the shop. I want to do this once not over and over again. Having no first hand experience with any of these upgrades... I'm looking to get my TJ built to where I can take it out and enjoy it...

I guess I forgot to mention that... yeah, had the frame looked at... it's in getting the rear passenger portion replaced right now. At that point should be good to go.

I am not a fan of working on drums, so it was an added bonus with the swap... no other reason than that.

Can you elaborate on/educate me why it is garbage? As for the 8.8 I've read lots and seem pretty "common", so what do you mean by "doesn't really fit"? If you mean bolt on, sure I get you.

Thank you @Jerry I hear you on the axle swap. What pushed me that way was that working with the shop the cost is about a wash and I get a beefier axle and disk brakes... so I was thinking why not at that point. The people here and at the shop pretty much convinced to me just to go the 35"...

Road to 33's and now to 35's: order of updates?

As things progress, thought I'd post an update. Well I have desires and thoughts around doing the work myself... yet for me to do it means a long process... and need space... I could handle the time, but I've not space right now with winter coming up... so started talking to local shops...

Road to 33's and now to 35's: order of updates?

Short answer, Yes. Long story… I’ve wanted a wrangler since I was 6… never pulled the trigger because reasons… wife finally convinced me to get my Jeep at 45 knowing I would be putting in a pretty penny after picking it up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My issue is I’m ignorant, I don’t know the right/correct way...

I did not think of selling the existing axels. I appreciate you both, you bring up good points. Granted now I've to sit back and noodle which way to go and where to spend the $. I (like a kid at Christmas) was hoping to get my way to 33s before Christmas... now though I'm thinking I need to...

Appreciate all the input folks. Giving me some things to think about. @Irun I'm new to the off roading... so not sure on what mild trail riding means here. When in AR/WV I'm typically riding around in a side-by-side thinking this would be a blast with a Jeep. No roads, forest, rocky...

I read you. Going 35s though, correct me where I am wrong, means higher lift, more drivetrain modifications. Granted if I can snag an axel swap like @Sensei pointed out I'll have to give it some serious thought.
