I'll pull the connector and hit it with some contact cleaner today. I didn't even think to check it.

2.5 continues to be a pain in the but now it's the O2

so far I've put 150 miles on the jeep with the new engine. I haven't been able to get the catalyst to reset. I was told if bank 2 o2 sensor lags behind it's a sign of a bad sensor. I replaced it with a NGK and the jeep instantly ran better. this morning I'm getting a new code o2 bank 2 heater...

Adventures in getting the catalyst test complete

I've been sitting with the catalyst marked as incomplete for a little over 80 miles now. what is that testing for? I have two new o2 sensors on order they seem to be reading correctly but their obviously very old. according to the drive cycle: Catalyst Monitor Drive Trace Pre-Conditioning...

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

update on the jeep. I got it back on the road!! it's running well too. I'm planning on taking it in for smog once I get the ECU to do it's magic reset dance. then I can take it apart to start working on the cosmetic side of things. Fenders, paint, interior, electrical.

Any idea where this broken piece of metal came from?

having just torn that engine down, if that's not a piston rod, I have no clue what it is. also nice to see a fellow 3 cylinder jeeper.

Newbie with most of a 2000 TJ

If I'm not lost I'm going the wrong way. I think the fun of life is the adventures and exploring. I just hope next time I can get a little further away. :)

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

small update on the jeep engine swap. the original engine has the spark pug cables in a different order than what the shop manual and the (new) older engine have. That is very strange to me but it was running so who knows! second picture is from the older 2.5L engine that I just installed. I...

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

I wonder that too. as long as I can get it running again I'm not going to look too hard into it.

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

so far the only other things of note are the engine mounts are different on the 2.5 from the 98 to the 2000 the older are a bit wider but the engine block bolt pattern is the same so keep the old hangers. the freeze plugs are also a bit more of a problem to find. the two on the back by the...

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

Hi Mac! I bought the 2000 jeep and drove it a grand total of 60 miles before the #4 bearing absolutely destroyed itself. (oil pickup has what's left of it in the picture.) when I got the engine out to see what happened I noticed the #1 barring was getting very very hot. it looks like it's a...

    I can't find oil pickup on a 2000 2.5 4-cylinder

an update to my oil pump problem. the one on the left came off of a 98 2.5l 4 cyl the one on the right came off my 2000 2.5l. the left one doesn't fit in the oil pan off the 2000's engine. I ended up cleaning the rightmost one to use in the engine swap along with the matching oil pan.

I'll swing by the dealership today. it's just weird that the one I have doesn't match up to anything I can find online.
