New Ring Gear Interference with Inserting Spider Gear Shaft

Thank you, hosejockey61! I am going to do that this afternoon. I bought a set of new bolts (Crown), as well as another set (Yukon), so I will have no chance of more delays, and can throw the unused in the spares ammo can!

New Ring Gear Interference with Inserting Spider Gear Shaft

So then, while I am waiting for the new bolts to arrive, I am contemplating the best solution for removing the ones currently in the carrier. I used red Locktite, and it was more than a month ago. Usually, I would heat up the parts to ease the removal of the fasteners. But I have pressed on the...

New Ring Gear Interference with Inserting Spider Gear Shaft

Thank you for your fast reply, horsejockey61! Yes I was still a little mad at myself when I posted last night, so I used "pry" to highlight my frustration. I am probably going to need to replace the ring gear bolts, right? I think somewhere I read or saw that these are single use?

New Ring Gear Interference with Inserting Spider Gear Shaft

So I thought I was almost done re-gearing the Dana 30 on my 2001 TJ Sport. I upgraded the stock 3:07 to 4:56 gears, bought Revolution gears and a Yukon carrier (for 3.73 and UP). I did all the prior research and watched a lot of videos and came up with a step by step plan and got perfect...

Need advice and clarity on gear set selection

Greetings and Thank you, Jerry, for your expertise! The Jeep is pretty much disassembled in my shop as I am welding in some full length Safe-T-Cap frame rust repair sections in, as well as a 4" lift, 1 1/2" body lift (with aluminum spacers I fab'd on the lathe). Doing the Brown Dog Engine lift...

Need advice and clarity on gear set selection

My Jeep is a 2001 TJ Sport (6 cyl), manual 5 speed transmission, with Dana 30 up front and Dana 35 in back with the dreaded 3.07 factory gears. I am currently lifting it 4 inches, installing a SYE and want to run 33 inch tires. I will be mildly off- roading ( I live in Wisconsin), but it is...

    Best Replacement Fuel Pump?

I am looking at replacing the fuel pump in my 2001 TJ Sport. When I look online the number of choices and the price spread of these choices is making the decision tougher! Can anyone offer a suggestion for a quality reliable unit? Thanks All!

    Refurbishing OEM fog lights

Thank you for your response, I am diagnosing why my fog lamps are inop. So the fuse is good, the relay swapping had no effect, so I wanted to disconnect the lamps underneath the jeep first to use a test lamp to see if I have power out that far- to see if it is the multi-switch on the column. I...

    Refurbishing OEM fog lights

Yeah, about that connector between each fog lamp and the harness in the fender? How doe those specifically latch or connect. I am afraid I am going to bust the plastic! I don't see a tab or anything to press on. Help?

How to tell if I have a NV3550 or an AX5 transmission?

Thank You, Chris! I appreciate the fast reply! Yeah, it is single digits here in Wisconsin, so I really wanted to avoid crawling around under the TJ on my icy gravel drivway, looking for evidence of the transmission's identity! Oh, and I ordered up some Mopar Manual Transmission Fluid. Thanks...

How to tell if I have a NV3550 or an AX5 transmission?

Greeting! I own a 2001 TJ Sport (4.0) with a 5 speed manual transmission. I purchased a shop manual that gives info both on the AX5 and the NV3550. I want to change the fluid, but they each take a different type, and have a different capacity. Was one of these trannys common and the other...
