    65th Anniversary Desert Crawler Build

Ok, I see where you were going! I've been so hung up with fact that the rubi shaft is 3" shorter than the original that I I really did not consider that. Worried that the slip joint would come apart at full extension. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!

    65th Anniversary Desert Crawler Build

Thanks! I'm really happy with the set up. Turns out the rear rubi shaft works perfect since there is a 44 in the rear. I replaced all the ujoints and adjusted the pinion angle to eliminate a vibe. I did have to put a conversion joint on the rear to interface with the 44. I have not gotten...

Jeepin14s - I did not make any mods. I thought about cutting the MORryde plate or just removing the light guard, but turns out it works really well to just reinstall the tail light guard with the small overlap over the plate. There is a foam pad on the back side light guard which helps a bit...

    Seat geometry

There is less surface area in contact with the floor. I don't have any facts or data on this, but I suspect that if I were in an accident bad enough to shear the 4 bolts that would be the least of my worries. I guess I should crunch a few numbers to get a more quantitative assessment. I...

Driveshafts for 231 to 241OR transfer case swap?

Some more info.... So over the weekend I cycled the rear suspension and the Rubi rear shaft does not show the spline at full droop. I figured the Rubi shaft would work on the rear since I have a Dana 44 so it should be the same configuration as the Rubi. Looks bad in the picture because the shaft...

Oh sorry, I didn't answer all the questions. I believe I used the same bolts. It is hard to remember after all the bolts I've removed/replaced on this thing!

Driveshafts for 231 to 241OR transfer case swap?

I'm headed out to find one now. Thanks though!

Yes RC for the 1.25. Some wont like this, but I have 4 washers stacked for the 0.5". Not an elegant solution, but that is what I had in the garage at the time.

Driveshafts for 231 to 241OR transfer case swap?

I agree....don't think it is a good route. Now that softballnrd27 gave me the solution for the front, I think I will just spring for the Tom Woods for the rear. Thanks!

Driveshafts for 231 to 241OR transfer case swap?

Perfect! That is exactly what I needed. I will get a 1310 output for xfer case and use my stock front. Thanks! Great timing too...I was just about to head out and get a 1330 for the front diff so I could try and use the rubi shaft. You provided a much better solution! Really appreciate it!

Driveshafts for 231 to 241OR transfer case swap?

Today I replaced the NP231 with a NP241OR in my 2006 65th Anniversary Edition. Jeep has a Dana 30 in front and a Dana 44 in rear. I have a 3" lift. Now I have to decide what to do with drive shafts. I could get the Tom Woods Rubi shafts for around $650 with optimized lengths and correct ujoints...

    Seat geometry

Yep, I've considered it and have also raised the back more than the front...so 1.25 in front, 1.75 in rear. I've also shaved a few inches of foam off the front of the seat because the "bench" was too long for my stump legs! Much more comfortable now.

I have a 3" lift, so plenty of room to work. Thanks for the tip on a new thread.

    65th Anniversary Desert Crawler Build

Today I got the 241OR installed. Took about 3 hrs to drop the 231 and install the 241...you were right Chris, very straight forward. I will provide a write up on how I did it soon. Now I have to decide what to do with drive shafts. I got the Rubi drive shafts with the xfer case. I would...
