I wonder how they came up with the non-synthetic requirement I've known synthetic oils to transfer heat significantly better than conventional oils as thermal conductivity typically scales inversely to particle size in heat transfer media

do you remember if the inner gear (the circular one that the planetary assembly sits inside) was also destroyed? this is a difficult part to clone

I recently rebuilt a Tera low 4:1 np231 kit, including machining new helical gears, rebuilding the planetary cage upgrading bushings to needle bearings, etc. The end product is essentially a brand new tera low kit minus the minimal wear items like the inner gear and input shaft. My question is...

how did you install SYE without removing the TC?... the case halves have to come apart and the entire main shaft is removed and replaced

Hard to say for sure given such minimal information but I have seen a failed ring and pinion do exactly this

SYE is an easy install, my $0.02 cents is pick up that sale on the AA SYE for $220, do the install yourself! id be happy to chat on the phone if you need help w the install and there's also some good documentation posts here

is anything wrong with your current 231? the advance adapters SYE kit is on sale at quadratec for only $220 right now https://www.quadratec.com/products/52237_99_07.htm keep in mind you need a new rear driveshaft for this conversion. Are you actually sure you need the TC drop with only a 2.5in...
