My truck and Jeep both are kept in my hangar which is almost always dark inside. I believe that extends the calander life considerably. Usage and condition is more important in my formula.

My experience with skidding logs is much easier with a chain. The only thing I can think of that would have me using a winch for that is if there were mud. or a manicured lawn that I didn’t want to tear up with lugged tires. If you can use a chain, it’s typically faster and easier. My $.0.02,
