    No spark troubleshooting

So last night on my way home, I had the CEL pop up. I had the codes read and it pulled up a P0340 (camshaft position sensor A circuit) and P1391 (intermittent loss of camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position senser). The first start up after cutting it off took a few seconds and it did...

    Exhaust noise

I've just had a lot of work done to my jeep. The old engine started knocking like crazy which meant it was time for a new one. During the engine swap I had the clutch replaced as well as the catalytic converter. The jeep now runs good but I'm getting this painful noise occasionally. When sitting...

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

I've now fixed the manifold issue so the new one is on and working. The noise is still there however. I am really starting to think that it is a broken piston skirt. Watched a bunch of videos on youtube that sound just like it. I may be taking it to a shop here soon because it's starting to get...

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

I just finished replacing the exhaust manifold and when I go to start the jeep the engine speed sky rockets. I checked all of the vacuum lines and I'm almost positive I have them connected correctly. The only thing that I can think is that I was only able to get three bolts in the intake...

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

Seeing as I was getting ready to do this anyways, I went ahead and pulled off the exhaust manifold. I knew there would be a crack back there but still not sure if it is causing the issue. I know that these jeeps are notorious for cracking exhaust manifolds but do the cracks usually look like...

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

I saw a trick on youtube to find exhaust leaks: put a rag on the end of the exhaust and listen to the sound change. I didn't have anyone to help me out so it was a little difficult but when I stuffed the rag on the sound seemed to shut up a little. I don't know why it would get quieter though. I...

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

Probably should have mentioned that the jeep has had a minor exhaust leak that I was getting ready to fix. Is it possible that a leak like that could just get much worse all of the sudden? Could an exhaust leak even cause that much noise?

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

Any ideas? Sounds like I put cardboard in my bicycle spokes. That's the best way I can describe it.

Awful clicking noise from bell housing

Jeep is a 1999 2.5l, I was driving home from yesterday and as I slowed down going through some construction, I could hear this rhythmic clicking noise. At first I thought it had something to do with the construction that was going on around me so I thought nothing of it. As I pulled into my...

    2.5 idler pulley

I'm replacing the upper idler pulley on my 2.5 due to some noise it's making (the pulley next to the AC compressor in the diagram). I bought an idler pulley from napa and then realized that the two idler pulleys on the engine are different sizes. The idler pulley just below the power steering...

New tires. Now front end wiggles.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will take it back for another balancing.

New tires. Now front end wiggles.

I just had a new set of tires installed and balanced on the jeep. The old ones were completely done so the jeep rolls much smoother now at low speeds. However, when I get up to 50 mph or so, I've started to feel the steering wheel wiggle back and forth almost like the tires are unbalanced. The...

    How hot is your heat?

I got the thermostat on without any leaks now. Engine does heat up to around 210 now which is good and the heat feels nice and warm when it's up to operating temp. The problem I'm now experiencing is that it takes the engine a solid 20 minutes of driving to get up to operating temp. If I turn it...
