Happy to report I solved the issue! Ended up being a bad coil rail, even though my coil rail had no signs of wear or cracking.
Had a buddy of mine pull the rail off his 4.0 in order to swap it into mine and the miss instantly went away.
Since I will need to order a new one, does anyone have...
I am running the OEM/Unmodified PCM.
I was also thinking it could be the Crank Position Sensor but usually you get a P0320 (No Crank Ref Signal) or random misfire code when it is the Crank Position Sensor. Mine is consistently the same cylinder code. Absolutely do not want to rule this out but...
Hello Everyone, I am currently experiencing a misfire issue on my TJ. I have read through the other similar threads here to begin diagnosing and fixing the issue, but with no luck so far. So I have decided to outline my issue as best I can below.
Jeep Information:
2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ Sport /...
Okay this makes perfect sense now, I will update my post accordingly.
Edit: It seems I can’t edit my reply from earlier but either way I think anyone who reads through this thread will have more than enough info to do their adjustments now. Thanks for the help everyone!
Not sure exactly what you mean. I think you might be referencing #6 from JMT’s original list? If that’s the case I had asked for clarification on that but did not get a response so I re-worked it into #4 in my updated response. (Post 18).
It wasn't clear what part of the cable you are supposed...
Just got back from my second attempt at this using the information in this thread. Happy to report that I have a fully functional E-Brake! Below are the steps that I followed to successfully adjust the E-Brake.
With the tires on, and transmission in neutral, jack up the rear end of the Jeep so...
This is almost exactly what I did, just maybe not down to the specifics of measuring to 1/16 inch. But I have been wrong before so I will try this again this week and report back.
Stupid question... I am doing this with a 2-post lift, not by jacking up the rear end. Although I have played with...
That's just about the procedure I followed. First I backed the adjustors at the wheel off. Then tightened until the rotor just started to drag, then backed off slightly. I then pulled the slack out with the main adjustor up top. This resulted in a short pull on the E-Brake (About 3 clicks and...
Sure thing...
The conversion kit I am using is this one from East Coast Gear Supply, as far as I am aware it is basically the dana 44 disc brake setup from a Ford Crown Vic. This is paired with custom E-Brake Cables made for the TJ from the same company.
The E-Brake setup uses an inner drum...
Hello, Recently I completely rebuilt and re-geared my rear axle in my 2006 Jeep TJ. During this I converted over to rear disc brakes. My E-Brake has never functioned well and I was hoping doing this conversion would assist with that.
So far I have played with the main adjustor up by the...
Yeah I would definitely classify this as glitter rather than chunks. The largest was probably about 1/16” long with the rest being 1/32” or smaller.
I’m thinking I’ll run this as is for about 1,000 miles, drain and pull the bearing caps to ensure everything looks good. Then refill and change...
I am back again with what should be one of the last updates on this Re-Gear / Locker project! As of yesterday I was able to get everything back together and take the Jeep on its first test drive. I am happy to report that all seems to be operating normally! Below are the details and info I was...
Hey Reviving this again if you’re still around!
Did you ever get backlash to measure evenly around the ring gear? Currently I vary from .006-.009 but my pattern and all other numbers are within spec. Wondering if I should just run it.
Alrighty, I was able to wrap up the final install of the locker today. Here's a breakdown of some of the final results.
THE NUMBERS:
Pinion Depth: .013 Shims behind race + .032 Shims behind Bearing = .045"
Backlash: .008" on 3 spots on the ring gear.
Pinion Preload: ~15-20 in/lbs, set by .060...
Awesome news! And hey that's fair, its detailed for a reason. No need to change something that works!
I will continue to document my progress here but for now I think I'm all set! Next steps will be to get a replacement seal housing and then move onto final install. Also need to drill the...
