Yep, disconnected the battery. Connected red/black together overnight. Reconnected. Still had my P1698 no bus tcm. And you're right, I should've taken her off road once or twice. Maybe by not doing so, or pulling anything will just mean a longer transmission life. (Fingers crossed)

Update: took my TJ to a place called Jeepetos. They threw in a used TCM. Wants me to drive it a fee weeks to see if it acts up. So far, it's back to normal. Fingers crossed! I have my old tcm and interested in having it refurbed. (2004, 4.0) any recommendations?? Thanks!! -J

Thank you. My 04 has a separate TCM. They got integrated with the pcm in 05+. Hopefully it's not a problem with both tcm and pcm. Where is the pcm fix located? Thank you.

I didn't take it to get codes from a dealer yet, however I learned the ignition trick online earlier. So far it shows a P1698. Will I get more codes from a computer hookup or should I not waste my time and money? Thanks!

DD, was it an expensive installation? I feel in my heart this is a simple issue. Electronic. (Hopeful also) it's coincidental my overdrive switch doesn't work (light doesn't turn on/off) when it's in this state. I just don't know. 🤷‍♂️
