One thing I just noticed. This bolt head looks like it's part of the leak, but it's definitely not one of the pan bolts. Anyone know what this bolt is and why it might be leaking? Could it just be spray from driving?

Thanks in advance for the help. I took the TJ to the shop for a couple of items, one of them an ongoing slow trans leak. They looked at it and said it was the pan gasket and they replaced it. Unfortunately the leak is still there same as before. I put in some dye drove it a couple of miles...

I misread your question. I think the outer wrap that got pulled tight happened to be overlayed with the end of the cable at the attachment. It cinched it down incredibly tight through a couple layers on the spool and was pretty hard to unspool.

I had the cable hook attached to a shackle that was on the flat tow behind emergency cable attachment point. Bent that pretty good! In this pic it's just got a Velcro strap holding it in place.
