Ok I'm back with what I found out when I dropped the gas tank again. Dropping the tank this time I found the check valve was not stuck and I was able to move it easily up and down. So I performed the smoke test on the vapor tubing sitting on top of the tank as Saab rquested me to perform...

Sab, Wow, you did a lot of research. I appreciate all you've done. Is it possible a vapor lock could cause my problem? It looks to me like I have to drop the tank again but I will hold off until Winter. I will keep you informed. Thank you again for your help. Tom

@sab, I disconnected the hose from system as you recommended. Unfortunately, the gas valve still kicks off, so the problem is a hose above the gas tank or at the filler nozzle. Can I blow air from a compressor through either of the hoses to see if that fixes the problem? I doubt if the rollover...

I have previously indicated that I dropped the gas tank on my 2005 TJ and fixed the rollover valve. I am still getting code PO457 Gas cap leak. I replaced the gas cap, but know change. After all that, when filling the gas tank, the handle valve from the gas pump kicks off prematurely...

Bret, i just got done fixing the rollover valve in my 2005 tj. I had to drop the gas tank & sand off the 3 sets of ridges. Not an easy job but its done & filling up is back to normal. TJ

Hill, purchase a code reader. They are inexpensive. What you can't see, the codes will tell you what is really wrong with your TJ.

Mark, I am glad I sent you my ECM to fix. So far after 2 weeks the faulty O2 sensor indication has not shown up. You did a great job fixing the circuitry within the unit. I will recommend your company to other folks. Tom Jensen
