TJ owner overheard in bathroom at JK club

Back in the 1960's I used to hear that joke as a comparison between OCS trained officers and ROTC trained officers. The ROTC guys did not pee on their fingers (supposedly).

TJ Rubicon vs. TJ Sport or X?

"I personally wouldn't touch a 2005 or 2006 TJ." I shudder a bit every time I hear you say that...so far, my 2005 LJ auto is doing fine and I am happy...but then you say that again in yet another thread and I worry...!!

    Jeep guns

Never thought very highly of the .556, but like the AR platform. Always liked the 7.62x39 but never really liked the AK platform. Just picked up a Windham Weaponry 7.62x39 SRC. It eats whatever crummy steel cased 7.62x39 I load it and it shoots great. Nice rifle.

    Jeep guns

Kahr CW380 well used and totally reliable, sitting in an Alabama pocket holster. That is my always available jeep gun residing in my front right pocket — backed up by other stuff as the spirit moves me. https://www.alabamaholster.com/product/front-pocket-holster/

Show us your off-road trailer setup!

Here's mine. New to me and I've only taken it out once so far but liked it. Not ready for off road other than simple dirt but I am considering a Timbren axle-less suspension.

Selling my TJ for a JK

My daily ride has been a sweet 2015 2door 6speed JK Hard Rock with a number of mods. BUT, I bought a 2005 LJ with an automatic for my wife to drive. I find myself driving the LJ much more than I had anticipated. BDS 3” lift, 33 inch tires, Fox 2.0 shocks — the suspension is really nice...

    Banks turbo for the 4.0?

Well, my 2005 LJ has more like 147,000 miles on it but compression is good and it runs fine. All hoses, belts, OPDA, radiator, and anything else easy to replace has been replaced (thanks to my son-in-law). I don't know if extra power will over stress this old motor but I am willing to chance it.

    Banks turbo for the 4.0?

Ron — thank you for your response. I've been thinking about a stroker for some time but am moving in the direction of the Banks Sidewinder Turbo Intercooled now. Either way, I thought it might be wise to rebuild the transmission. The tranny runs fine now but I figure it was never designed to...

    Banks turbo for the 4.0?

I am considering the Banks Turbo for my 2005 LJ. It is an automatic (4 spd) and I have regeared to 4.88. Do I need to have a tranny rebuild done first in order to safely handle the added horsepower, and torque?

Questions about 42RLE automatic transmission repair quote

Could the problem be with the PCM and not the transmission?

Has anyone considered a Ford Ecoboost swap in a TJ?

"my 4.0L has started to have a light knock, so I was looking (briefly) at the cummins 2.8L as a replacement, but decided on dong a 4.6L stroker kit instead...no need to mess with electrics/gauges/engine controls and mounts/adapters etc. as none of that stuff changes with a stroker...and the kit...

    2005 LJ engine upgrade

Of course now I'm thinking about a stage 1 stroker and a GR8TOPS Safari top. It never ends...

    2005 LJ engine upgrade

I have a 2005 LJ automatic that had 140K miles on it when I bought it. I regeared to 4.88 and it is a solid vehicle with a useful overdrive. I roll 33 inch tires though and not 35s. On 35s I'd think 5.13 gears would be right.

    Rubihara with 1900 miles

I wondered about the 6 speed manual but over at Google University they say " 2005 was the first model year with the 6-speed manual. It is the German-made NSG-370, and is a regeared version of the 6-speed found in the Chrysler Crossfire. Prior to that was the NV-3550 5-speed."

    Best Bimini / Sunshade

I have the Black Forest Throwback on my '15 JK Hardtop. I removed it, lifted off the hardtop, and reinstalled the Throwback. Now I can have open air above me or close it for sun protection or (at least some) rain protection. I like the Spiderweb products but I had the Throwback anyway so I am...
