    TJ Cooling System Dilemma

My guess is your radiator was no longer doing a good job. But the heater core was "helping it out". Then your heater core blew. You bypassed it and now your radiator showed its weakness and blew too. As for your current issue - I suspect you have air in the cooling system. Unscrew your...

Half size oil filter at Valvoline

Previous owner had oil changed at Valvoline just before I bought the car. I changed it last weekend and was very surprised to see the new Fram filter had at least 3x the volume of the Valvoline one. I guess they have a reason for recommending those 3,000 mile oil changes.

When was the oil slinger deleted on the 4.0?

Oops - didn't notice this was for the Cherokee... but assume Wrangler was updated at around same time. Seems this was changed for for 2001 model, at least from the other forum: https://www.jeepforum.com/threads/oil-slinger-needed.4380911/

TJ battery draining when not in use

3mA? That's like 2Ah in a month. I'm quite sure that's not your problem. But the multi function switch on these go bad - it's the stalk that controls headlights, hazards, etc. Mine would intermittently light up the fog light dash light and drain the battery (I never measured the load but I'd...

    Broken crank pulley

This worked! The metal was so soft I just filed it down and was able to remove the timing chain cover. Then used a bearing separator/puller to get it off! Replacing timing chain and sprockets since I'm in there 😊 Thank you for the advice!

    Broken crank pulley

This sounds like a great idea! Thanks!

    Broken crank pulley

I was also thinking about getting a Vice grip (or bearing separator?) on there too have something to pry on - but I'm not sure I'll be able to pry it off. Other option is splitting it or using a punch to try to break it up.

    Broken crank pulley

This is a problem entirely of my own making - I was careless in tool usage. I feel somewhat stupid about it, but heck it's a fantastic learning opportunity. Removed the crank pulley this morning and it came "off" a little easier than expected 🤣 Any ideas how to get the rest out? I'm not sure...

    Power Steering Pulley Replacement

Thanks all! I assumed the pulley had a bearing - since it doesn't there's no use replacing just the pulley. I'll post a video later - perhaps I'm seeing an issue where there is none.

    Power Steering Pulley Replacement

Hi My radiator and fan are off the vehicle and I'm looking for things to do with the wide open space (another thread). My power steering pulley seems to have a bearing going bad. I can wiggle it back and forth - I assume this is not expected behavior? And the spin is a little grinding. My...

Do many people here have automatic transmissions?

Thanks for the insight! I never knew this but it makes a lot of sense!

Radiator replacement, what else to do?

Got a Denso. They're a tier 1 OEM, my company is a supplier to them and I've worked directly with them in the past - they take quality very seriously, so I figured the radiator should be at least OEM quality. If you want pictures of anything specific let me know - it's not installed yet
