You could look into Penetrol - quite a few people have posted about it on this forum and had good results with it on their hard tops. I actually just applied some on my tan hardtop and it looks much better after a light coat

To close out my own thread (🙃) and for anyone who may experience this in the future. Sure enough it was the throttle cable being out of alignment because the linkage bracket still had the spacers from the PO's throttle body spacer kit. As soon as I removed the spacers I am back to idling right...

Oh man - I'm 99% positive I found my issue. I started playing with the throttle cable and if I force it as "low" as it can go (aka no throttle) the Jeep idles down to where it should be. Started looking at why that could be and realized there's more parts to this stupid throttle body spacer kit...

I suppose one course of action is to take the IAC valve off and give it a good cleaning by hand :unsure:. Could it also be something to do with the new gasket because I did not have the issue since ownership until I removed the throttle body to take off the spacer.

PO had installed a throttle body spacer that I removed and while removing it I also put in a new throttle body gasket from Autozone. After ~50 miles of driving I had the CEL come on and it was a P1294. I checked that all the bolts on the throttle body were tight and also sprayed some throttle...

@Jerry Bransford coming through as always - went down and got a replacement ignition coil and she started right up. Probably didn't need a new crankshaft position sensor but at least I know I have a new MOPAR one on there and won't have to worry about that for awhile :)

Huge shoutout to @kalmairn for letting me swing by to compare, I guess it goes to show it's hard to compare the expected feel of a 99 Jeep manual to a 21 GTI manual 😅.

Yeah I think I'm gonna reach out to one guy who lives out here to see if I can compare and contrast. It's hard to know what should feel "right" when going from a 21 GTI manual to a 99 TJ manual as they are a completely different type of vehicle. Yeah that's what I want to do but of course...

Would you leave it alone even if they've resurfaced it? It seems like no matter what I'm going to end up having to take a look at the clutch assembly to try and figure out the root cause 🤔. Who knows if it's something else all together causing the issues with it feeling like it's sticking.
