Are BBB industries rebuilt steering gear boxes on Rockauto any good?

Changing out my front shocks this AM, I noted some leakage from my steering gearbox. I can't be spending almost a G for a PCS one so I'm likely scooping up a BBB.

One thing fixed, another to replace. Seemingly never ends. Just as I thought I was on the horizon of being "finished" with my TJ.

Mine from NAPA was only around $120 so it was worth a gamble, but I know to avoid them now. Redhead looks like the best option without spending a ton of money on PSC
My NAPA reman'd box was $175 IIRC, with a core charge of something like $200. After about a year and a half on 35s, daily driving and rock crawling the lower sector shaft has play. And my pump whines something awful.

Supposedly the LARES Rockcrawler box on RockAuto is a durango box that has had the bushings within it replaced with actual tapered bearings. I have no experience with it but the LARES box should be an ok replacement.

I plan on hydro in the very near future.

Before replacing it just because it's leaking, suck as much of the old PS fluid out as possible and replace it with Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. That stopped my previous TJ's leak, it just made the seals swell back up like they were when new.

If you don’t have any excessive play I would reseal your box. Rather than play the rebuilt steering box lottery. At the very least try some Lucas steering stop leak that Jerry recommends.

Good to know, maybe I just got unlucky with NAPA

Call it " an act of frustration" or whatever you want... the psc box is the best of the new stuff on my rig! If there is anything wonky in my steering, I am assured that it has nothing to do with the gearbox. Yes, I paid a pretty penny for it but it has already been paying back. As stated before, steering boxes are simple swaps but I simply grew tired of making time for that simple procedure...over and over again
