I currently have 3" lift and 33" tires with 3.73 gears. I would like to go up to 35" tires but not sure thats the right lift or gears. Any help would be great

I would suggest 5.13 for 35's. You would probably want 4" springs and a 1" body lift to fit 35's.

4" would be fine for 33's, though I wouldn't do the additional 1" BL until you're ready for 35's, it would probably look a little funny with the 33's.

5" of combined lift (4" spring/1.25" body lift) and 5.13 gears

Everything mentioned above is good advice. Your current gears are definitely not what you want for 35s. Keep reading and asking questions. There's more than one way to get to your intended goals.

Why do you want to run 35" tires? What are you hoping to accomplish with them? As you probably are realizing now, it's gonna get expensive. I don't mention that to discourage you, just as a reality check.

That is what a buddy said I should have. I don't want anything more than to be able to go offroad and have some fun. I feel like I need to change the gears even for a 33 that I have now

Is the setup I have good for offroad with 33" tires?
Yes, 3" lift is good for 33s. No on the gears, however.

I ran 33s with 3.73 gears for awhile. It was a constant exercise in compromise. Correcting your gear ratio is some of the best money you can spend on your Jeep.

YUP. Trust your instincts on this.

I will stay with 33 and my lift but what gear should I go up to?
Edit:
Given your 42RLE auto trans, you'll want to go with 5.13 gears. Check out the thread that @TWiG01 linked above.

5.13s. We only recommended 5.13s for 35s because you have a Dana 30 front end and that is the deepest you can go. If you had a Rubicon 44 front end, we would've suggested 5.38s for 35s.

Depending on which auto trans you have...
he has the 42rle per his profile

You don’t need more than 33’s to be able to go off-road and have fun. 33’s are very capable, especially with a front lunchbox locker. You do need different gears. To determine the best ratio we need to know your engine, transmission, and final tire size. Post those. Also, I’d add a 1.25” body lift to the 3” lift for 33’s. Gives the tire more room, you can lose some bumpstop, et al. Let’s see a pic of your Jeep!

For 33's you want 5.13 due to the extra-steep .69 Overdrive ratio your 4-speed automatic transmission has. For 35's I'd say 5.38 but your front Dana 30 limits out to 5.13 so that's the best available ratio for 35's too.

I ve got 33” skinnies with 4.11 and a 5 speed manual. Works ok as I put in a 4 to 1 low ratio.

That said wish I d of done 4.56 but not worth extra coin now.

Since you re running an AT I d think 4.88 would be minimum and as others have pointed you 5.13 might be better. Depends, IMO, just how wide of 33” tire (and weight) you plan to run. Also, how much time is on highway, vs city vs off-road.

Good luck!

$.02

I'm re-gearing to 5.13 with 6spd manual. Not much for the off-road crawl ratio but for the ability to run all the gears, including OD on the highway, while keeping the 4.0L in it's torque/power band.
EDIT: I have to say this was on recommendation from Jerry & others here.(y)

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have advised against 4.11 and to go instead with 4.56 for 33's, 4.0 engine, and 5-speed transmission.
