I wanting to know were you all mount your Fire Extinguisher's. The ones I find all have a cheap plastic mounting bracket. I am looking for something better, I have seen some one that Velcro to the roll bar but most of them look like the smaller ones. I like have the larger one but maybe the smaller ones are enough. I would also like to have something handy in case of a roll over. I would not be apposed to possibly have a small one up front and maybe a larger one in the back. I am no fireman so what are you all doing ? I would like to see pictures of yours mounted.
Oh yea I also have the Tuffy under seat drawer so that may complicate things

Thanks

This is how my 5 lb. ABC extinguisher has been mounted in my TJs for nearly 20 years. The spring steel mount really holds up and holds the extinguisher totally securely. I'll post a link to the fire supply store Wednesday when I get back to my computer. The seat is pulled back all the way to show it, it doesn't get in the way of your feet at all.

Edit: This is a link to the mount... http://bestfireco.com/cart/index.ph...id=176&zenid=db32b239c9607d247941c352a97d4f2e

Rather than a single 2, 3 or 5# extinguisher, I have one 3# within reach of the driver and a second 3# mounted to the rear sport bar upright close to the "camp kitchen." That way I have an extinguisher close at hand for the two most likely scenarios and if I only need one of them to handle a small fire I still have an intact extinguisher for the rest of the trip. I use inexpensive sports bar extinguisher mounts that I found on Amazon.

Completely unrelated. Jerry, which seat mount are you using in the picture? Looks like it rides about a full inch lower? Definitely interested in something like that to lower my seat a bit

That's the OE factory mount they started using in 2003, it (or maybe the seat) lowers the seating position by about an inch.

Hey Jerry, does your seat still fold and tumble ok with this mount?

I have the same setup, and if you mount it correctly, it will still fold and tumble - although once in a while the extinguisher will come out of the holder if you slam the seat forward. Jerry's link was out of stock for me, but I was able to find the same holder on eBay. The boring blow-by-blow of how I got mine mounted is here:

http://www.doubleveil.net/jeep/thirty-seven.htm - about halfway down the page past the Bartact extinguisher holder I have in the back.

I used a different full mount and tested F/T, swear it worked, until I messed with it on on trail and it didn't. I just ordered the style Jerry used and will swap it out.

I have an 8lb fire extinguisher mounted in a similar manner on the passenger seat. It still folds and tumbles without any issue.

For more positive mounting, I used the kind with the rubber straps that wrap fully around the extinguisher.

Just make sure you mount it in a way that doesn’t interfere with the slider release handle.

That's what I did on the driver's side with the rubber strap type mount. Will have to look closer and adjust if possible.

I had mine mounted to the bar behind the drivers seat in the plastic clamp it came with. Piece of crap. Its popped lose a few times, and even the key wouldn't stay in. So back in October while at an offroad park on a steep rocky section it came loose and fell in the floor board (which I didn't know) and on a hard hit my cooler slammed it setting it off. At first I thought something was on fire but my wife knew it was the extinguisher. We had to bail ship cause the cab quickly filled up. We got a good laugh but wasn't fun to clean up. So I'm glad this thread popped up cause I'm looking at a better way also.
