Hey guys my Sway Bar mounts both sides and upper control arm mount on passengers side are toast ( the control arm actually broke in half ) . Looking to go back with something stronger ? It’s a 2005 LJ with. 1.25 body lift and 2.75 suspension lift and 33 inch tires . I do use it off road and on road and pull a camper so it needs to be able to have good road manners . Also my springs keep coming out of the lower perches anything to keep this from happening ? Any advice appreciated! Thanks , Kurt

Did you hit something head on with the axle? Breaking a control arm like that is not easy to do. Can you post pics of the mounts on both ends of that arm?
The spring coming out of the lower perch could be that your shocks are too long? Or that the free length on your spring is too short? You could try some bolt-on lower spring keepers but it's unlikely they'll solve your problem.

BTW, still curious about the title of this thread...? 🤔

There seems to be several issues at hand here. We will need more info to really help you. If you are flexing enough to drop your springs then you may be asking more from stock arms than they can handle. What springs are they? What shocks do you have? They seem to be a bit too long.
What part of your anti sway bar is worn out or broken?

Hello , I don’t have the jeep here but the other side of the control arm is fine . No I do not recall hitting anything ? I put the recommended shocks for the lift I have , so not sure why I am having issues ? Thanks for the advice on the springs 😀

Old man Emu springs with the recommended shocks for my lift and springs .

Start with telling us what led up to this, that’s an awful lot of shiny metal where those parts separated, it’s not like they wore out
Seems to be a lot of carnage for just normal wheeling. Something broke the sway bar link mounts and control arm. If one of those had failed before the others it would have been very noticeable.

Extreme Catastrophic Death Wobble?

Was the setup on the trailer wrong, no bump stops and the axle went up too far with too much weight and sheered the control arm? I'd look for where the arm hit causing it to sheer.

Honestly their is nothing that sticks out as far as what happened . I didn’t even realize anything was wrong until I saw the sway bar mount on the drivers side broke off , then I saw the other damage . IE , other sway bar mount cracked and control arm broke in half . All I can figure is maybe I drove it with the sway bar mount broke in half and while off roading it put pressure on the other upper control arm ? Thanks , Kurt

Apparently its uncommom, however both my former FIL and a couple of 80 year old ladies we ran into out on the Mojave trail both had the same experience. That being the front upper control arm brackets breaking off the axle. Seems like pretty whimpy metal for such probable abuse. Myself, Ive had the rear axle shock brackets crack and fall off the axle. Time to drain the bank account some more Keg.

Lol ! 😂
Bummer , I guess my main question was I want to go back with Stronger, Any ideas ?

My Jeep costs more to maintain then my last three girlfriends … my attempt to be funny ….. a fail
No, the humor wasn't lost at all. Rest assured, you're not the only one overwhelmed by the price tag of this "hobby." I've stopped keeping track of the cost - ignorance is bliss right?

Look on the bright side, it appears you have more expensive tastes for Jeep stuff than you do for women. At the end of the day that's a good thing! 😉

There are a number of fab parts suppliers who offer the sway bar tabs in 1/4" thick. Those would be stronger than the stock ones you broke.

It appears you have adjustable links so you could go with raised tabs. Those would move the mounting point up, shortening the link. This could possibly reduce the leverage on the tab in the event that you side-loaded them somehow?
