Rock Krawler 12 inch stretch kit

I believe he was referring to an LJ, though even in a TJ you can certainly stretch 5" without a back-half kit. There are also a handful of gas tank options that don't require going to a fuel cell (not saying any of this is smart or bolt-on, just that there are other ways to skin a cat).
I didn’t imply that it could not be done. Correctly done with out fabrication. I consider the genright tank a fuel cell.
If you squeeze out a couple inches up front and the rest in the back it could be done.

6" in the rear. 🤭
Rear end……..

None of those are less than a compromise that drastically affects how a rig works. Throw your outboarded shocks away and start over.

Will you be able to miss the fuel cap or relocate it too?
I know I would have to. Heck I had to slightly trim the rear of my wheel opening now. Diff just clears tank skid.
You have some suspension changes that may effect that differently.

Can you explain more, I'm curious about this?? Obviously most decisions have compromises, but there isn't any that are popping out in my head as "drastic". I haven't followed many builds, but I recall at least one LJ that relocated the gas tank crossmember (which gives 4" of room?) and then ran one of the common aftermarket gas tanks (one of the GR options, not sure which model). I believe they got more room than they needed since they were only going for a small stretch as the work was done mainly to make room for a RJ60 (running 37-38"s; I can't recall after thinking about it for a while and I can't find the thread in my saved links).

I'm so confused. I thought we were discussing a TJ stretch? No?

The TJ Unlimited is an entirely different animal. We stretch those out to 115" with a GR tank under the back with a RJ 60 and bigger.

Does anyone make an LJ shrink kit?😝

I'm the source of confusion more than likely... I replied to Golloywomper's comment to TPink. When I read TPink's original comment (to which Womper replied), I was under the impression that he was currently wheeling a TJ but wanting more wheelbase and keeping an eye out for an LJ (for which he was considering the RK kit).

Carry on :)

But also thanks for the reply on the LJ approach. What size tires do you typically run on an LJ with 115" WB? Do you move the tank as well as go with a GR tank or just the GR tank in the factory LJ location?

Based on some of your previous comments (not in this thread), I think you said that the LJ wheelbase is about perfect for 37"s - though obviously running 37"s on TJ axles is generally a bad idea. IIRC, you said ~63" WMS wide at LJ wheelbase with a high belly is a great all-around, all-terrain, all-regions wheeling rig.

My collection of reading various replies correct?

I don't know what perfect is and I don't use that for much. For what we do in our area on our terrain, 35's are anything over 93 out to 100ish with a 20" belly height. 37's are roughly 104ish+ if you can get it with a 20-21" belly height. 40's start at 108 and go up with a 21-22"ish belly height.

WMS numbers are meaningless without rim backspacing. We shoot for 4"-4.5" BS and 64-66 for 37's, 67-68 for 40's.
