So I have been reading on here for the best battery to run on my 97 TJ with extra lights and winch. Everyone is says the diehard platinum 3478-dt on older post. Can’t seem to find that battery anymore now that sears sold out and gave diehard over to Advance auto parts. Does anyone have alternate part number for the battery? Or a new part number?

Odyssey made the Diehard Platinum for Sears but stopped selling it to them when Sears started discounting them too much. You'll get the same essential battery with an Odyssey Group 34. Or from Northstar or the Bosch Platinum. It is truly a great battery, I got over 10 years out of my Diehard Platinum, now I'm at about year 5 for my Northstar which is identical to the Odyssey.

Is Northstar a battery manufacturer or are they made by someone else and repackaged?

Been looking at possibly getting a new battery myself as I have no idea how old the one in my jeep is (oddly isn’t marked, and yes I’ve checked several time). Our battries are group 34 right? Wish I could pick one up from fcpeuro.com because of their lifetime warranty

Not to hijack the thread but if a group 48 or 47 can be squeezed in then you can order through fcpeuro.com and get a lifetime warranty. Does anyone know if that would work? They sell only Odyssey battery’s

The terminals are flipped on a 48 compared to a 34. Would have to rework the battery cables. Not sure on dimensions but my odyssey 34 has higher cca than my odyssey 48 so I’m assuming they are dimensionally different.

They are a bit different dimension (really just want lifetime warranty if feasible and not detrimental in some way lol)

G34 - 10.25” - 6.8” - 7.8”
G47 - 9.68” - 6.87” - 7.5”—-600CCA
G48 - 12.06” - 6.87” - 7.56”—-720CCA (if i remember correctly)

I just got a 34M from O'reilly, they are dirt cheap for an AGM if you can live with the 1 year warranty. If you have a Sam's Club membership they are $130 and for an AGM that is highway robbery. The marine battery has extra screw terminals as well which is fun. It is not a deep cycle, just a regular AGM like their automobile battery with a different case and warranty. Something to consider if you are in the market.

I just put this one in my LJ.
It has the top and side terminals so hooking up accessories is easy. It wasn't cheap. Odyssey

I bought a Odyssey yellow top group 34...seems smaller than the original 34 I had...and I can't get the brackets tight...seen several fab shops selling odyssey specific battery mounts...so something else cost wise to consider...gonna measure the battery tomorrow.
