My SYE output seal has been squealing for a couple months now and I finally got around to changing it out. When I removed my Speedo gear I saw it was chewed up , so I checked out the drive gear on the shaft from the Speedo hole and felt it and I can feel some damage to that as well . I’m now pulling the SYE cover off to further inspect the damage . Any idea what is the cause of this ? Was it just not properly seated by the shop who installed my kit 3 years ago ? I’m about to order another Speedo gear and but I’m wondering if the OMIX drive mate gear is universal for all np231 shafts ? It’s an AA SYE

Shop did not install the sensor/gear correctly. It can be rotated to accommodate different size speedo gears. They can be set too tight by rotating the assembly too far.
You tube video will probably explain better than I did.

@CharlesHS thank you for sharing , can you explain a little more ? did I alight the numbers at the raised dot and that’s ”32” and then I go up counter clockwise for each increase in teeth ?

The group numbering for gear teeth is 32-38 so if the number of gear teeth falls in between those numbers that is where you set the housing alignment. You will see that there are a couple more numbered groups on the housing for other gear teeth numbers.

Does anyone know if the drive mate gear can be removed just removing the SYE housing , or do I have to split the case ?
