I placed an order for revolution 5.13 hp30 gears in May. I have not received them and from what I can tell Revolution may never order any more from their supplier until things are back to “normal.” Yukon makes a 5.13 set but I have read on here that recent Yukon gears are garbage. The only other brand that seems to make hp30 gears in this ratio is USA standard. Any word on their quality?

To my understanding USA Standard is the same as Yukon but are the components that didn’t meet the “quality standards” to be a Yukon branded gear or axle shaft.

That being said, a guy that frequents the ORV park I go to has had them in his TJ for atleast 5 years without any issues. Similar to what @Wtrask said above.

I'm in a similar situation. After talking to someone at RGA, it was clear that the HP 30 gears are at the bottom of their priority. I'm now looking at options from Yukon, Motive, and Nitro. Unfortunately, 5.13s seem to be out of stock everywhere I've looked. I'm keeping the faith that something is out there and will post if I find anything.

That may be a recent policy. Historically the exact same gear sets are in both boxes. The Yukon just has a better warranty. Along with that, you might find anything from Dana to Circle K gears in those boxes as well.

Appreciate the insight I wasn’t aware of that!

When I had my 2001 TJ with the hp30, I had a problem sourcing 4.88 gears. I used some off brand that came from india. I think it was from the same foundry everyone else uses. I beat the snot out of them and never had a problem.

One would think that since Spicer makes all the different gear ratios for jk and jl axles, there would be less demand for the aftermarket suppliers like revolution and therefore more demand for the older Dana axles since they aren’t really supported by Spicer.
The USA standard 5.13 gear sets are available on eBay right now for about 200 bucks so I am just going to order a set. I have had everything else including new lockers for a long time and I am eager to get them installed.

Be careful with Ebay. It is a cesspool of scammers. I attempted to order 5.13's a while back. The seller claimed the gears were in stock. They sent a thank you card with USPS tracking attached to it so that it appeared the order was complete. Ebay was useless in helping resolve the issue and never even replied to any emails. Paypal was a little more helpful although it took nearly a month to get a refund. My HP Dana 30 is still sitting in the garage waiting for gears.

I have had trouble with multiple scammers on eBay this year. Luckily eBay stepped in each time and refunded my money.

I found a 5.13 Nitro HP 30 set in stock at Extreme Terrain. Shipping says it will be here Sunday, so fingers are crossed. Now if I could just get the Elocker I ordered in November, I'd be good to go. :(

I found a NIB Super 30 ARB yesterday whilst doing some clean up and rearranging if you want to replace it at some point.

Did your gears arrive or at least ship? I am considering ordering the same set.

If anyone cares to see, here is a comparison of the nitro gears and USA standard gears side by side. I decided to let both orders go through, give them a look over, and then return one set. The nitro gears have the circle k stamp.
The USA standard pinion is on the left, and the USA standard ring gear is on the right and on top in the other picture.
It appears the USA standard set is nitride coated or something but the nitro gear set overall looks and feels smoother and more precise in the places that count.
Thanks @Irun for the heads up on the nitro gears!
