Protecting tub: Has anyone used Lizard Skin in their tub?

I have a few quarter size holes developing on my driver side floor pan and will be patch welding it. The rest of my interior is in pretty good shape, it is just the one floor pan that is somewhat bad. As much as I do not want to, I am considering putting a liner in my interior. I would rather protect it from further rusting. I do plan on if/when the interior gets soaked from either rain or splashing through water. I would also like to add insulation and sound control while I am at it.

This leads me into my question:

Has anyone used Lizard Skin in there tub, both the Ceramic Insulation and the Sound Control?

If so, does it work as advertised? Do I still need to add a liner on top of the Lizard Skin layer?

I would also add a bedrug on top.

My other option would be to just add a liner(from what I see POL Raptor looked the best to me) , and add the sound deadening mats. From there I would add a bedrug on top. I just don't believe water would be friendly to the sound deadening mats, but what I have read is that nothing should penetrate the bedrug.

One more question, would it be overkill to liner underneath the tub? I am sure I would have to remove the tub off the frame in order to do it. I do not have a problem doing this and would also like to see how the top of the frame looks. Everything on the bottom of the frame is great from what I can see.

I'm in the same boat as you. If finances allow I plan to spot treat any rusty areas with POR-15 then apply the Ceramic and Sound control layers by lizard skin. I think they say to put the sound control layer on first.

It's best to top-coat the Lizard Skin stuff if you don't plan to cover it, just to improve durability.

It might be a good idea to treat the underneath of the tub with POR-15 also. Use the POR-15 degreaser and metal prep first...works wonders!

I will also be putting down sound deadening matts of some kind, probably some generic Dynamat equivalent.

I just got done doing the ceramic coating to the front passenger area of my tub so I can't say yet how well it does or doesn't work.
I was only concerned with trying to cut down on the amount of heat I was feeling thru the floorboards.

Then I sprayed the whole interior with bedliner as I do water crossings and deep mud holes so felt that any type of heat resistant or sound deadening mats would just become water logged.

If you are thinking about pulling the tub then I would and have the bottom cleaned off and prepped for then spray it with the ceramic and sound coating. And then spray the interior with bedliner.

@Wildman I plan on doing just about the same thing. How much lizard skin did you go through? And what bedliner did you use? How durable does the coating feel now that it has cured? Think it will stand up to general foot traffic and gear?

I really like the bedliner look. I wonder what the sound difference is between:

1. Lizard Skin Ceramic + Sound Reduction Coating and Bedliner, as shown in Wildman's ride above vs......
2. Generic Dynamat + carpet

I do alot of highway miles and am looking to quiet things down as much as I reasonably can. But I love the look and easy cleanup of just bedliner and no carpet.

I used 2 gallons of Lizard Skin and wished I'd had just a little more. I'll have to find the name of the bedliner I bought. Around page 178 is where I start spraying stuff.

I did the bedliner over the Lizard Skin for the durability since the bed liner in my truck seems to hold up pretty well. Since I'm not driving my Jeep yet I really can't tell you how good or bad it is yet.

Here is the bedliner I got.

Worked really good and looks even better. Overall I'm very happy with how it all turned out.
