Opinions on this rust?

I'm looking to buy a 2006 wrangler and would like to get some opinions how bad the rust on the bottom is. And if it's worth it to buy the jeep. It has around 133,000 miles and seems to be in good condition otherwise. Its going for $10,900. There is no rust anywhere else aside from the bottom. Thanks for your input.

Guess it really depends upon how bad the rust is inside the frame rails and the bottom of the tub along with how much work you want to do....
My guess is that there is substantial rust inside the frame rails....
Personally..... I would PASS on that Jeep....

yea ya need to put a finger in the holes and feel around for any flakes falling off on the inside for sure. alot of that looks like surface rust on the outside of the frame, wish i could zoom in more to see if its flaking there at the skid plate below the holes. hard to see at the rear control arms what that looks like. i think that price is really too high, and you would have alot of work ahead of ya !

You would be better served if you expand your search to the southern half of the US away from the salt. No way would I jump into a TJ with any rust. There are way too many available from rust free areas to make that type of compromise.

Things/standards surely are different here in the south than New Jersey, If someone tried to sell that down here they would only get $2k if LUCKY… Every time I see a post like this I think “If I ever decide to sell my jeep I’m trailering it up north and selling it”

You need to specifically look around the rear control arm mounts. That is the most problematic and put your finger in the holes there and feel around. Here we put >1/2" holes in the bottom of the frame where the front & rear factor control arms mount to let the shit out. Help prevent rot, but not without a lot of other care like Fluid Film, Eastwood, regular powerwashing the inside of the frame

Another area prone to bad rust would be where the transfercase skid plate is bolted to the frame rail....

Ill put it this way. I paid no where near 10k for this jeep. Take your time shopping.

NOPE. I know cars are outrageous now, but be patient and look south and west. The northeast is not kind to metal.

If you look real closely at that last picture I think you can see a large hole in the frame right above the control arm mount. It might be the lighting, it might not be.

The skids are black and the inside of the frame near the holes is black...but again im a rust snob

Medium Fern Green Metallic Pearl coat. Made in 1999 and 2000 only. Top and interior are Dark Tan. Thank you. I adore the color.
