Opinions on this rust?

I want to say hell no on this one but have you seen the price tag on clean TJ's these days? Sorry boys, I've been looking for a clean frame TJ lately and can't find anything under $15K.

I'm a west coast rust snob and just that picture of the frame is enough to not touch
I know where Washougal is! My parents lived on Prune hill in Camas. My jeep was bought in Van, WA. My sister lives in a house I own in Vancouver.

Rust Is Not A Crime.
I agree, but we are working on legislation......

On a serious note, I’m too biased from being in the south to give advice- I can’t imagine the challenge salted roads create for vehicle ownership- as if they don’t depreciate fast enough as it is. A lot of guys here know how to fight it and do.

The TJ/LJ market now is the strongest I’ve seen it - but I want to believe good ones at reasonable prices are still to be had -

All the best
Andy

If you are willing to come down to Georgia for a good YJ with a spotless frame, I’m actually selling one for a friend now (listed it today). Let me know.

I can get you an 06' LJ with 70,000 miles and less issues for $10,000. You could probably talk him down to $9,000 because of the snorkel.🤫

My second choice would be this add I saw on Facebook Marketplace. He forgot to mention it has Metalcloak fenders.

Damn...you guys are spoiled! Up here in MA that's probably average condition. I'd consider that rust as long as it is just surface rust.

Degrease it, wire wheel it, and address where necessary. Give it a zinc-phosphate wash and hit it with POR-15. Clean out the inside of the frame rails the best you can and spray Eastwoods internal frame paint.

Then hit everything with some 3M rubberized undercoating. You should get many more years out of it.

Take a good flathead screwdriver with you. Some scale that comes off is not too bad...just poke at the crusty spots looking for rot holes.

Try and get the price lower if there is anything but surface rust.

The metal looks to be de-layering/swollen around the transfer case mounting bosses.

I'm looking to buy a 2006 wrangler and would like to get some opinions how bad the rust on the bottom is. And if it's worth it to buy the jeep. It has around 133,000 miles and seems to be in good condition otherwise. Its going for $10,900. There is no rust anywhere else aside from the bottom. Thanks for your input.

Just looking at the first picture I'd be surprised if that skid plate could be unbolted from the frame. I'd also be surprised if that skid plate didn't start to fall off in the very near future. It's like the worst of both worlds

Rust Is Not A Crime.

I don't know what's up with the capital "A" but the others look like how you came up with your forum name.

I'm definitely interested in it. What year is it? And what price are you selling it for? I'd also like a few photos of it. I don't know if you could pm me on here or would you like my email let me know

I am interested in it, I'd like to know if it needs any repairs or has any damage? And I'd also like a few more photos of it including underneath. I'm not sure if you can pm on here but I could give you my email if you'd like so we can discuss

It's for sale on Facebook Marketplace. I'm waiting for the owner to answer those questions and see if he's shady.
