Just put a sony 5000 in my LJ but the two USB ports that come with it have cables out of the back. I bought a dual USB outlet to mount in the jeep but I was expecting to plug it into the back of the radio. That's not the case. What is everybody using for a port to mount next to the cig lighter to plug the usb into?

I used one of these from Amazon for my Alpine Stereo. It plugged in without a problem.

You can also get the same size with dual USB.

If the unit came with "hard wired" usb cables you may need one of these.

I wanted to make things really harder than they needed to be, so I tried and found a place that had a USB connector that can fit and replace one of our blank rocker switches.

A simpler solution is what @Rooscooter posted.

Yup.... that's harder!

I went with the easier route.

I did have a little issue with the "blank" where I put the outlet. I wanted to leave enough room for a rocker switch in the future so I had to do some "Dremel work" on the back side to get the bolt/ring to seat flush. Had I centered it it would have been very easy.

I would not recommend what I did to anyone unless they had time and skill, and very bored. It was a PITA, but it works. I put two of them in, one goes to the head unit and then the second goes to my amplifier. I really like the approach you took but I put my heated seat buttons there and needed to think of another option.

I have a second connection to the head unit that sits on that coin tray near the windshield. I keep a USB stick with music up there.
