Is 50amps enough to do most anything on a jeep? Like theoretically if I wanted to outboard is that enough welder?
It's definitely enough welder if you use the 240V plug, which comes with the YesWelder. So far I've been using 120V and playing around with 1/8" stuff. I'm going to play with it at 120V and 3/16" soon and see how that goes. If I need to bump it up I'll just plug into the 240V behind my dryer.

My first Mig welder was a SP-170T Lincoln I bought off Ebay. This was before Market Place or Craigslist.

And I know a lot of people who worked out of a one car garage.

Cool good to know. And I won't be the only one sharing the plug with the dryer, lol

I'd guess so too, but I figured I'd share anyway
My guess is with the 30% off already right now that it wouldn't work.
Thanks! Yeah I will bookmark it incase it still works later, I'm not quite ready to pull the trigger. I think the tuck is the last big thing I want to do before the season starts so I should have a while to plan out and think about what direction I want to go.

Any specific recommendations for tank/regulator?

I don't know much about this welder, would it be worth trying to score a used one or is the 430-500$ one new worth avoiding the hassle?

I paid around $500 for that used Lincoln back in 2005 so IMO the the Yeswelder is a better deal as you'd have a warranty if there was a problem.
As for the regulator I can just say get a quality one. Same with your helmet. I've bought the $75 HF ones and then finally spent a few $$$ and it's amazing the difference in them.

Okay cool, yeah the safety equipment probably isn't worth going cheap on. Looks like I'm looking at around 1k for everything. I will need a new workbench/table for this too, I was kinda waiting to buy a house with a bigger garage before doing all this but I'm going to wait another year or so first so I might not wait anymore

The YesWelder comes with a regulator. The tank you'll get at your local OxArc or gas supply house. They will ask you a few questions and know what you need and get you set up. All you really need from them is the tank with gas. I also bought my helmet through YesWelder. It's an auto darkening helmet with a lens in the middle and both sides. I don't know the difference, but it works well. A lot of other little stuff I bought at Harbor Freight under @Wildman suggestions!

I got a welding jacket through Amazon for about $30. NOt required, but it will protect your clothing. I use Tig gloves rather than Mig gloves. They are thinner, but that allows you to work a little easier. Just be careful because temps are higher with Mig than Tig.

Okay cool one less thing to buy then. Yeah really seeming like a pretty good deal. Did you buy some scrap metal somewhere to practice on at first?

You get everything with the YesWelder except the tank and gas. They also send you little things like a metal thickness gauge.

Yeah, I went to a place called AlCobra here. You've probably got some places around you. Just ask for Rem Steel (Remnant - left overs from cuts they've already made). That will save you some coin. Also, tell them what you are doing and that you're just starting out and want some stuff to practice with. They should have some good ideas. I don't think there's anything over 3/16" on our Jeeps

Cool good idea, be nice to not have to pay for the scrap. That's really cool it comes with almost everything you need. Seems like the way to go for me when I get there, good price

Got the Savvy cable shifter installed. It was easier than I expected, when I opened up the bag of hardware I was pretty confused at first but it all makes sense when you get started lol.

UCF skid shipped today! It's all coming together... just need that and to finish the gas tank reinstall. Very exciting. I also have the grabbars showing up today I think.

So some easy but exciting stuff first, got the grabbers installed

They're awesome I spent some time swinging in and out with them, I'm really gonna like having them. The bodylift was only 1.25" but just that much harder to get my ass up and into the seat.

Now the lame part. Working on installing the GTS and hooking up the vent lines/return lines, whatever they are. And this stupid little piece of plastic breaks.

It's what connects the two lines that go to the tank to the one line that goes wherever it goes up front. Stupid 25 year old plastic, I guess. I'll probably be on the hunt for a replacement this weekend. Always something, huh. That skid looks hot in there though, nice and thicc. Looks like I'll be removing my hitch bar, since I was only really keeping it to try to protect my gas tank. Should improve departure angle and looks a little bit

Mine came with a hitch bar when I bought it, after getting hightailed(?) on the side of the road while messing around I took it off and sold it for 75$

Got the fuel line T connector today and got the gas tank w/ skid back in. Really coming together. Only a few minutes of work but I got one of those Daystar console organizer things in today too which should be nice.

I took off the milk jugs off the rear bumper and tried to remove the hitch - I am not sure how they got it in there but I have no idea how to get a wrench or socket on the nuts inside the frame. So I started cutting it off lol until my cutting wheel chipped and I stopped so it didn't explode and all that. So no money for that whoops!

The UCF skid was delayed to tomorrow... then to Monday... then rescheduled for tomorrow again. So hopefully it shows up and I can get it in while I have time on Sunday
