I wanted to reply to this post but it’s closed.

I like the grille made for the tj that had a little bit of the JL style which was only the headlight surround.

But what I think would really catch peoples attention would be one that actually has the depth of the grille and headlight surrounds of this: but for the tj, not a jk.

I don't mind the JL grill but I also don't mind the TJ grill enough to change it. If I had a JK I'd be all over ditching that lifeless crap and looking more like a JL.

I think the reason we have angry grills is because the factory JK grill is so boring.

The JK grill far surpasses any other Wrangler grill I've ever seen. It's the only one that came from the factory with round turn signal/parking lights. FWIW, I think turn signals in the fenders started as a Jeep Liberty design and while the JL is just as bad, at least the TJ didn't come with turn signals in those long skinny slits.

Maybe the JK grill was somewhat inspired by the Jeep FC from the mid 50s thru mid 60s. The headlights were higher than, and not intruding into, those kinda short & wide slots with rounded ends. Unfortunately, maybe the JK grill was also leaning toward the Liberty design by not being more wedge shaped with the turn signals more inbound.

And yes the JK grill really isn't the best, and surpasses almost nothing. I just made that part up.

I have accidentally waved at lifted Libertys because I thought they were JKs from a distance.

Im talking about a JL style grille to replace the TJ grille. I like the JL grille for the amount of design that went into it and it’s not just a flat grille. Probably just going to make a custom one. Now that I see that this forum is full of ego filled personalities I will no longer be apart of it.

Kyle,
If you decide to do something custom, contact me and I can offer some advice on how to get the lines, shapes and curves correct so the result ends up with a factory look. I have photos I haven't published showing how to get the slots correct (including inserts in the slots), how to get the forward curve correct, and how to make the curves for the headlight buckets. I've done all of those with my JL grille project for the JK (the photo in your first post) and my TJ grille project, both are pictured below.

Sounds like a very interesting project, I might even be interested in working on it myself :).

If this thread got your panties in a bunch you probably shouldn’t. One day you might accidentally post about Metal Cloak High lines and that might send you crying home to mommy.

Well, after only two posts, you were not “apart“ of it to start with. Nothing in this thread cast any aspersion on you views, and the snarky comments were all in good fun. Especially Boogie’s - that made me laugh.

But in truth, we are sometimes less tolerant of snowflakes…

If you feel the need to change the singular design feature that identifies your vehicle of choice from the others, then is it quite obvious that you clearly picked the wrong vehicle. If you want a JL grill, go buy a JL and leave us purists the fuck alone.

Someone else got pissed about Blaine last night and felt the need to write me an email condemning me for allowing such behavior on the forum

People really need to get some thicker skin these days. It always amazes me how people think they can read the room just based on some online posts. All of a sudden everyone has an ego. I mean God forbid that someone have an opinion on the internet these days, right?

Kids these days...

Again, goddammit and I was on my best behavior last night too.

You need a snowflake filter when folks register.
