2006 Wrangler TJ Unlimited Rubicon. 36000 miles. Front driver side brakes locked up after a 45 minute highway drive. Jacked up front end and could not rotate the tire by hand. Passenger side OK. Pads OK, rotor looks OK and is within thickness spec. Did some research and decided to replace both calipers and front brake hoses.
Got the calipers off with no problem. Disconnected the brake hose from the caliper and removed the hard line from the hose.
Cannot get the torx screw that holds the brake hose to the frame loose on either side. PB blaster applied. No help. This screw goes into the frame.
I am concerned about using a torch to heat it up as there is brake fluid present.

Any ideas on how to get these fasteners loose?

Thanks!

Use an angle grinder...cut a slot right through the torx and use a big flat blade to turn it out.

I'd hose everything down with non chlorinated brake clean and weld nuts on the tops.

I just removed/reinstalled mine to replace my front hoses...got some fancy Crown Teflon ones...used em on other vehicles...love em. I did use a T40 impact bit and hammered it through all the paint before turning it out with a socket wrench.

Heat (control the flame) + impact bit + electric impact = bolt out (or broken - either way, it's over lol!)

The above posts have basically covered it.

Ditch the PB blaster, that is for incredibly light duty situations, kroil is tried and true and highly recommended here. Give it at least 3 days and soak multiple times a day. Anytime you have a bolt that threads directly into the frame, it's a major pita if there is any rust or corrosion. Kroil, use a torch, impact gun, weld a head on or cut a slit for a flat head, drill out and retap. That is the order in which these torx head affairs usually go. When you are done obviously do not use another torx head.

1) small propane torch. Brake fluid can get hot, you're flushing out the old anyways. It's not going to catch fire inside the hose.
2) torx bit in an impact driver (hit with hammer type - not air/electric impact)
3) Drill head off. Drill bolt out for frame. Tap threads and replace bolt.

Thanks to you all for your suggestions. I picked up an impact driver and will attack again tonight. Hosed everything down with penetrating oil yesterday. Will use torch if that doesn't work.
