What did you do to your TJ today?

Finished my savvy body lift and RGA rear axle shafts yesterday. Trying to work up the courage to install the savvy cable shifter and tear the steering out and install the currectlync tonight.

It’s going to be on jack stands for a few more days awaiting rear brake pads and a MML so I think I’m about to drop the skid plate and start lookin at this cable shifter OR do the steering tonight.

Hopefully Tomorrow I’ll start assembling the RGA front shafts
Well I think I need to have the front end jacked up to do the currectlync, and I only have one set of jack stands. So… the skid plate is out. About to go eat a sammich and then come back and do this cable shifter. Wish me luck.

I’m cleaning up a set of Dana 44’s to install eventually. Taking my time with these trying to make sure I get everything right.

Well my savvy shifter cable is in. That wasn’t bad at all. The hardest part was getting that damn rubber bushing out of the top bracket. Geez. I used up all my cuss words I know gettin that thing out.
I’ll have to wait til tomorrow to finish tightening it down and adjustments. It’s a school night and past my helpers bed time.

What is the best way to track that down ? Mine has started doing a click/pop when I turn the wheel either way, but it does not do it all the time mainly when it warms up from driving 20-30 miles, its early in the turn sometimes like 10 and 2, and then again sometimes it will do it clocked all the way to one side or another.
Is it a single clunk or is it like a continual click while holding the wheel at certain positions while driving? If it’s just a single pop it could even be your steering shaft or something

I spent the day chasing down the intermittent popping/clicking noise that I hear in the front driver’s side when I turn. Now that I’ve actually been paying attention, I’ve noticed that the noise occurs at low speeds when I turn both to the right and to the left, and when I go over bumps. I can also feel it in the pedals. The front drive shaft seems alright. I’ve tried disconnecting the sway bar, spraying the u-joints with kroil, adjusting the transfer case shifter cable, and disconnecting the steering damper, as well as monitoring the track bar, tie rod, drag link, and steering components for movement with a camera while I drive. No joy. Next stop is opening up the front diff (need to change the fluid in both diffs anyway).

I did everything I'm not supposed to and installed my new soft top early this morning. Temp was 50 with 20-30 mph winds and no good sun to lay it out and let it stretch. Took it straight out of the box and installed it. All went good, fitment was better than I expected. I still have to let the windows sit in the sun to get the wrinkles out from being boxed up. Took it for a 30 mile highway high-wind drive. Very quiet, even compared to my Bestop sailcloth top. Windows had zero flapping issues either. 3 year warranty, so I will see how it holds up. I don't think I'll be buying anymore $800 Bestop sailcloth tops anytime soon, if this works out. Paid $269 shipped. Sierra Offroad black Trilogy acoustic top. 45oz heavy top. So far, so good. Only time will tell.

its more of a single clunk with the wheel turn, I noticed it at low speed in a parking lot. it also does do it while not moving at all.

I would gladly pay for a new set of straps for my soft top.

4 yrs ago when I got my Jeep it was missing those straps. I ended up using two small dog collars with the plastic clips and hung them from the rear bow. There are dozens colors and patterns to choose from. Of course they're almost completely hidden and I don't have a picture but mine have a grey/black diamond plate pattern (to look super strong) and they go well with my silver Jeep with black trim when the are holding the rear window up.

Also a very economical (and customizable) course of action!
