What did you do to your TJ today?

Super productive weekend with my Jeep. I finally got my Magnum engine running a couple weeks ago, but the transmission wouldn’t disengage, so as soon as I cranked the engine the Jeep started rolling. And once the engine was running I couldn’t get it out of that gear. I ordered a different slave cylinder that had a longer push rod and swapped that into my current slave cylinder. Took me a long time to get the clutch bled, but finally got it. Once I did that Jeep ran and shifted like it’s supposed to!! I put some new headlights in, addressed some other electrical issues under the hood, and installed a Poison Spider hood louver. Dropping the TJ off tomorrow to get the exhaust done, and that will kinda wrap up what I need to make my Jeep street-able. I have plenty of cosmetic things to still knock off my list though. Weather was in the mid 70’s this weekend so “my girls” helped with things as I worked outside and in my shop.

I have been as far as Benson when I was trucking.

I need to plan a site seeing trip with her and just roam around out there for a week or so.

I know Arizona is one of the places that the pressure change is few and far between.

Come on out ! I can handle weekend runs. I work to mush during the week to do anything.

Got the Viair mounted on the ABS tray. Wasn't easy, but got it done by expedient of half disassembling the mounted compressor to allow it and the tray to slip under the brake booster. Hindsight is 20/20 - it may (or may not) be possible to mount it full on sideways instead of diagonal if the compressor head were to be put back on 90 degrees CCW from its normal position - the head doesn't appear to care. That darn "handle" with the cooling fins was the big obstacle...

Hey Zorba, do you have a write up on your compressor install, or is it all in this thread? I’ve been looking at mounting mine like that too, but wasn’t sure how well it would fit. Also, which specific model is it?

It sounds like there's a much more exciting story you left out. Do tell!

In my rural area, there are a bunch of car guys, and we all hang out occasionally to "bench race." One neighbor has a very nice shop that he keeps in immaculate shape. Another neighbor and his son were working on their vintage Mustang in that immaculate shop one day. The son is about 13 or so. Dad's working on the carburetor with son in the driver's seat taking commands. Dad says, "OK, pump the gas and start it up." Son hears, "OK, press the gas pedal to the floor, hold it, and start the car." It's a manual transmission, in gear, and son doesn't depress the clutch. Either it didn't have a clutch/neutral switch due to being a vintage car (likely), or those switches weren't working, because the minute the car started, it speeds towards the closed garage door. Fortunately, Dad jumps (or is thrown) away from the vehicle. The Mustang runs into a very stout steel aftermarket front bumper for an F350 sitting lengthwise on the floor in front of it and drives it into the insulated roll-up commercial steel overhead door, stopping the car long enough for Dad to get it shut off. Dad ends up filing a claim with the car insurance company because the door on the shop had to be replaced, to the tune of about $10,000, and the F350 bumper destroyed the front end of the vintage Mustang! I'm not sure the insurance company was made aware of the fact that a 13 year old was behind the wheel, though...

Stay safe out there, fellers!

Finally got a nice day to mess around for a couple hours before work tonight. Got my second press fit bushing for the upper control arm swapped out on the Dana 30. Extended the wire from my fuse box so that I can get it mounted up on the AC compressor bracket. Next project will be either sizing up the frame for caps or rebuilding the front driveshaft. The frame is pretty rough but I know it’s gonna be a bitch to do out in the gravel driveway lol either way it’s going to happen

It's been a 2+ year project of doubling the number of cylinders I had under the hood (2.5L->5.9L). As well as a few other things (transmission and TC swap, complete suspension, rear axle swap, interior swap, adding carpets, BL, TT, other random abbreviations and capital letters together, and various small fabrication things here and there).
