California New minimum tire size for Jeep Jamboree is 37

I would be upset too, but... who wants to wheel with a bunch of 4 doors on 37+'s anyways? Not me!
Very uncool of them to cut off YJ's and CJ's too. Every time I see something stupid like this it reminds me of those old farts in locked stocker flatfenders that keep up with or even outwheel all the modern Jeeps with almost twice the tire. THAT's the kinda guys I wanna wheel with anyways - not a bunch of yuppies that stuck a lift, 37's, and angry grill on their 4-door.

Their requirements have always been over the top for that. You can't fault them for trying to keep the numbers down and this is one way to do it.

That's where I am at this point. Drones, company banners everywhere and everybody filming everything. If I wanted that I'd go to KOH.

Yeah as cool as this event looks, it’s not my vibe for going to the rubicon. Small groups please.

I think part of it is making sure everyone gets through without trouble - I noticed this for EJS too. Many who attend the big organized outings are first-timers or newbies still learning. The big tire requirement is there to fill the breach between vehicle capability and undeveloped driver capability. I'm sure all it took was one trip with a terrible driver in an exactly adequately capable vehicle to make the organizers require everyone to be overbuilt.

If I went off of RR4W ratings, I should have been limited to level 3 trails in Moab, but I ended up driving several level 7 trails with ease.

Typical Kommiefornia money grab. Minimum 2 passengers per vehicle. Double your money on half as many vehicles.

Also, isn’t discrimination illegal especially if your Jeep identifies as a CJ even though they/them are actually a JK?

I suppose if you were traveling alone you would just have to pay double.

You think the Jeep Yuppie Jamboree is put on by the state? 🤔 😆
It was meant slightly as a joke about the DPRK and the way Excramento double/over charges for everything.
Maybe I should have written “typical money grab by any organization/group/company along the same lines as the liberal fuckwads that run the once inspiring State of California”. But that wouldn’t have been as fun, so there it is in long form.

However, you never know what is mandated by Local/County/State officials and that trail is a County road subject to the whims of Kalifornia’s dear leader ‘lil Gav and all his minions.

It's easy to throw 37s on a TJ, however it's not easy to do it right. Imagine how much influence you might have over the rules for next year showing up in a poorly built rig on 37s.

I have wanted to participate in the Rubicon Jeep Jamboree but it looks like that will never happen now:

They allow wranglers from 1997 to present but with this new tire requirement it looks like the tj days of this event are more or less over. Dumb.
I have talked to people that have gone a said it was a great time. Looks like you also need rear diff cover and skid. I guess too many 4 doors were dragging the diffs and spilling oil everywhere. What appealed to me was they will get parts to you if needed. I guess I will need to go with a private group or club.

I wonder and have a feeling that some people that end up going will do the bare minimum to put 37s on their Jeeps. It’ll be ironic when quite a few of them break down and slow the whole convoy because they didn’t upgrade their axles to handle those 37s.

It seems not very well thought out on their part to say you have to have x tire size but have little regard to the supporting mods that go with it. You could say it’s to limit the number of people that can go, but that’s just as easy as saying we only take x number of jeeps.

We all wanted to go on the Rubicon when we first got our rigs. We spent a lot of time and money satisfying the list of requirements they listed as mandatory. We got there, picked up our already packed lunch while helping ourselves to some wonderful breakfast burritos and whatnot. Then we headed out to get in line.

Got to the springs and ran into one of the owners of JJ and asked him why no one did an inspection of our rigs to make sure we followed the rules. Those are suggestions he says. Uh no, highly recommended is a suggestion, mandatory to attend or be sent home is not and that is what we were told would happen.

We were pretty pissed that we spent money on stuff that wasn't really needed.

A lot of whining about nothing if you ask me.

If you want a corporate sponsored event designed to sell jeeps and the "jeep lifestyle" to families with little or no previous offroading experience, a Jeep Jamboree is for you.

If you want to run the Rubicon with a large group of offroaders in jeeps and other brand 4WD rigs from all years with fewer equipment restrictions, the Jeepers Jamboree run by the same people may be a better choice.
