California New minimum tire size for Jeep Jamboree is 37

A lot of whining about nothing if you ask me.

If you want a corporate sponsored event designed to sell jeeps and the "jeep lifestyle" to families with little or no previous offroading experience, a Jeep Jamboree is for you.

If you want to run the Rubicon with a large group of offroaders in jeeps and other brand 4WD rigs from all years with fewer equipment restrictions, the Jeepers Jamboree run by the same people may be a better choice.

Agreed, it does not seem like a lot of fun to go in a massive group. Same reason EJS doesn't interest me.

My wife and I did this event in our LJ in 2020... it was a blast. The guides were amazing and they had a ton of them. I counted over 20 breakdowns the first day but they got everyone to camp.

Some things I noted...

As to needing an aftermarket diff cover, that was JK specific as it seems those have a lip on the OEM one that catches, and they were dealing with too many needing fixed on the trail.

As to not allowing older Jeeps, this goes again to them having to deal with too many break downs, and harder to get parts. They offer to fly in parts for breaks on this trip via helicopter at no additional cost to you (you just pay for the parts) and they'll help with the mechanical repair or do it for you. It was getting to hard for them to do with with the older Jeeps.

As to the comment they were trying to somehow limit attendance by requiring larger tires... nope. The event sells out in less than 15 minutes even with their requirements... the requirements are all about trying to get 100 Jeeps through the trail in a day in less than 12 hours.

They have like a 40-50% newbie rate on these runs... their goal is to give people a good time and get them through the trail without incident wherever possible, and they do a good job of it.

Even when it was 35" tire requirement when we went, of the 100 Jeeps there were only 11 TJ/LJ's.. most were JK's with some JL/JT mixed in. Our LJ on 35's looked small in that crowd.

All that being said I understand why they do it from a business perspective, but you don't need all that to do the trail, I never had issue, never got stuck on my 35's :) Going back there this summer (along with other trails on a 10 day trip) with a small group of club members and looking forward to it!

Wow. 37" with front and rear lockers, really  yea it makes it easier. But I have seen lots of guys w/ 33' and only a rear locker do fine. Hell I took my YJ on 33's and a 4 banger

Finally an event geared for us JKs with 37s and angry grilz!
Sorry had too

I can understand some of the reasoning but that is the same reasoning that keeps me from large events. I remember when I used to think Moab Zuzoo (Isuzu only) was a big event with like 60 rigs. Now I try my best to wheel during the week and small groups. Not a great "people person". This officially killed any last inclination of attending the Jamboree.

Hilarious that they want to deny CJ’s and a lot of the guys that put on the event all drive CJ’s.

Our JL on a 2.5" lift and 37s has a belly height of 16" and a 118" WB

@Irun's tj on 31" tires has a belly height of 15" with a 93" WB.............

I have a feeling @Irun would be able to follow me most places.
When family obligations allow me some free time, I'm coming out. I'd love to wheel with you, Mike @Midnight LJR, and others. I'm super bummed because @taylormade73 offered me a ride this year, but I just can't swing being away for a week. I'll enjoy the photos of all of your adventures though! ;)

That would be amazing. I'll be in Moab 2023 if you can make the trek.

I've been following this event for quite a while and I've never seen a year when the requirements were less.
Also, I think it's invite only now instead of a lottery type entry.
I followed them for about a week when it was supposedly a lottery entry event until I realized what it really was.
