This is one awesome place for the TJ/LJ fanatic. Right up front I'm going to tell all of you that I will need plenty of help on this future build. One is because I'm blind and never done such a build as the one planned. Now I did have sight 32 years ago and was a wrenchhead and weldor then, so I have heavily modified 4x4s in the past. Since losing my sight I have restored a '73 Ford Bronco, '78 Bronco, '79 bronco and was restoring a '79 CJ-7 when I had to sell it because of having to relocate. I'm a 58 fat old goat, wife says I'm just a horny old goat.

This will be my loving, sweet, wonderful wife's (in case she ever reads this) Jeep. As the "Boss Lady's" specs. A Jeep LJ, with softtop, bikini top, half doors both metal and soft, upgraded headlights, v8 engine, auto trans, "6 lift, 16x40 Super Swampers LBT tires, winch and bumper, windshield light bar, 40 channel CB with weather stations, kickass stero (well that might be mine), USB ports, front and read cameras, Nerf bars, etc. Oh, did I mention that the Boss Lady is a '5 nothing Filipina? No, then you don't want these ladies mad at you. And the color is yet to be decided on. It has changed five times since she has ordered this Jeep. LOL

Some of my specs. many which will change withinformation and recommendations from this group.
Ford 351W, Alum. heads, EFI, 10R80 auto trans with US Speed 6 controller or a 5.7 Hemi and 8HP70 if the wiring can be figured out, Atlas 4 speed TC, hood vents, Carbo seats, Bullet bed liner inside tub and underneath, Dynatrak axles, front Dana 44 or Dana 60 Pro-rock and a Dana 60 Pro-rock rear, both with "17 brakes, Detroit lockers front and rear, 5.38 gears, manual hubs, upgraded analog instruments, 10 or 12x17 rims, Rockhard bolt-in roll cage, probably a '1 or '1.25 body lift, larger fuel tank if I can fit it, etc.

I know! Freakin' $$$$ but got to keep the Boss Lady happy or me and my guide dog will be sleeping on the couch, well at least me. It will be a long time build, when I finally to get started on it but do it right the first time. BTDT with broken parts way too many times in my young and stupid days. I will do some mods then when it comes time for the engine, trans, tc, lift, and other frame stuff I'll take the body off so working on the frame will be easier. I might also get a TDK frame.

Welcome to the forum. That’s a pretty ambitious build - even for a sighted person. Good luck - we will help out whenever we can.

I will be watching with particular interest. My oldest son has a Doctorate in Vision Impaired Education. He spent several years teaching blind students at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He is now down at Florida State doing research in blind education, and teaching graduate and undergraduate students to teach blind students.

Just curious - how are you interacting with the forum? JAWS, or something similar?

Yes quite a build but gotta keep the Boss Lady happy. LOL

Yeppers, JAWS it is.

I'll do the wrench turning but the body work I'll have done. Got plenty of friends with welders plus I'll have to try it again. I was a weldor before I lost my sight so I won't be able to resist.

That's great about your son. I would love to talk with him.
