I’ll post up some pics tomorrow if the fairlead. Hopefully get it done. Removed the corrosion and now we’re sanding it back down to smooth. Then a few coats of 1K gloss clear.atta boy!
Here’s where it is now. I’m tired of sanding. The area where the rope passes through looks rough, but it’s hard to get in there and smooth it out. There are no rough edges, just not perfectly smooth. On the rest I’m down to grade #0000 steel wool. When I finish I’ll give it 1K clear. I may be done. Probably spent 2hr on it so far.atta boy!
Rough Country. This is a budget build, and the design is to work with the bumperettes. If you didn't have the bumperettes it would stick out beyond the bumper and look a bit off IMHO. Fit was excellent. No problems with mounting locations or Fairlead area.Which winch plate is that?
That's a good idea. I mentioned it but K kept insisting just keep them black. It might look really sharp and tie it all together! I'll mention it to him again.Tie the rockers into that scheme and I think it will look good, along with the fenders.
It’ll eventually look right… but good god TJ’s are ugly with cragar’sI'm still unsure whether I like the silver bumper or not. I keep trying to keep in mind that the fenders are being replaced by MCE due to rust, and will be painted the same color, so we're trying to keep the whole build in mind. If it looks off a bit now we'd like to hear your opinions about changing them to black.
The rear bumper is supposed to be delivered today. We'll be painting it silver to match the front if we stay with this color scheme. This is our end goal.

Rockers would be too much silver imo. Fenders and bumpers is just enough accent. That's a good idea. I mentioned it but K kept insisting just keep them black. It might look really sharp and tie it all together! I'll mention it to him again.
Do you need another fairlead? I’ve got a new unused warn one that you can have.
Day 31: The old is gone, the new has come! That monstrosity of a front bumper is out of the way and the stock bumper was chopped down to a stubby, the holes welded shut and painted silver to match the Rubicon decals.
Winch plate and winch mounted with new synthetic rope spooled under tension and a front hook on the drivers side for recovery. A few more odds and ends to do up front like fairlead and thimble but the majority done.

That looks like the MCE TJ, I always liked the look of that Jeep.I'm still unsure whether I like the silver bumper or not.
