Tall wheels and skinny tires were fine back in the day, but I have to confess that picture made me snort ginger ale up my nose !

Just came across something at work today that made me laugh. Customer Rep was fixing an existing quote, and asked me to take a look at the notes at one of the stations and confirm that they were sufficient. It's supposed to reference "removing the slugs and stripping the excess" from the parts. Instead, printed right there on the ticket, was this:

Landlord covers the mowing where im renting & im happy where im at.. but it was getting long and I dont like being indoors.

Im a little bit of a yard upkeep person, so dishing out a couple hundred for yard tools and taking over the job doesn't hurt my feelings any bit at all & the landlord generously gives me the friends/family deal anyways as hes a pretty decent respectful guy. gonna talk to the landlord and tell him I got the yard work covered, I dont mind doing it & save him some money.

looked around at mowers for a few days and found id be in the $200 range anyways for gas or electric and settled on the $299 cobalt 40v push mower with a 6AH battery.
my duplex is on a 1/4 acre (.10 hectare) lot and I was questioning wether or not a battery mower was legit enough to take on the job.
well after mulching 6"+ grass down to 2 1/2" in the entire back yard, my and the neighbors side yards & the front yard & neighboring duplex front yard I still had 1 bar left illuminated on the battery and was able to put the same battery in the string trimmer and trim the edges, sidewalks and flower beds.

I do believe I walk a slightly slower pace than I would with a gas mower but it doesn't bog down nor stall out + the blade speed ramps up automatically when cutting a thicker patch likely from some little computer chip noticing a increased load on the motor but ramps back down when not needed. and the only time I stalled it out was when I rolled the deck over a ground out stump grass rut forcing the blades to cut the grass down to about 1/2"... otherwise, no complaints.

overall im pretty happy with it, it cut well and is very light weight + has a steel deck.
handle slides in as shown in photo below, handle folds up and the mower stores upright, taking little floor space in the small garage I have.

no gas, no oil, no maintenance, just charge and go & clean up with some compressed air when done. pretty decent for a small inner city lot where im at.

I would have said "Buy a corded electric" - but after seeing your lot, that wouldn't work so well. Compared to mine, its HUGE.

Looks good. We bought an electric weedeater ( DeWalt ) it works well. It was such a pain trying to get the gas powered Stihl running every season
due to our overlords ethanol gas mandates.
As a side note, I have Never used a lawnmower in my life, since I have always lived in the Rockies. So I don't have a qualified opinion on lawn care !! :p

Battery has come a long way, my next mower will be a push Ego. I have the trimmer and blower and work great but have a small lot to maintain. I have a gas ryobi with a bunch of attachments and found the fuel line disintegrated in the tank. Bought a kit online with new fuel filter, line, carb, air filter etc for $18 and now runs like new again.

2/3 back is where the lot line is at right at the pine behind the tree in the center. believe me, corded electric seemed like a better option with more amps.. but I have no plugs outside and to get the juice out to where id need it cheapest 10 or 12 gauge cord to get power from the garage to the back would be about $70 then id need to manage tossing the cord around everywhere.

Ive got all dewalt power tools and copious amounts of batteries but I couldn't justify the price of dewalt yard tools when I could get up and running cheaper with Lowes version of "ryobi". the kobalt line I acquired started when I picked up a makita string trimmer at depot then a few days later a Kobalt push mower at Lowes. looking around at Lowes, turned out the kobalt string trimmer at Lowes was the same price as the makita, but the kobalt was the same exact price and came with a 4AH battery compatible with my newly purchased push mower 🤷‍♂️ it was a no brainer to return the makita. didnt want to bother with a budgetable cheap string trimmers carburetor finding out shit out of luck for parts as well when needed.

you guys have more gravel and grit for yards unless you start heading down to Denver where its unusually deep green everywhere. let alone how dry it is and the concern up in the mountains of sparking a stone with the mower blade and starting a fire with the dry debris.

definitely have come a long way. wouldn't have considered it possible ever, just seems like too many amps are required to make use of a battery.
