Ok, time for lets argue about your favorite shocks

Has anyone actually run Fox shocks with custom valving without outboarding them? I would be interested in a set for the front of my jeep. Anyone have any info?

I'm running Black Max shocks on both my TJ and LJ. The primary reasons I picked them over Rancho was I wanted the softest ride I could get and the lengths were a better fit for my setup. After putting a few thousand miles on them, I've been pleasantly surprised how nicely they ride over a variety of conditions. I've seen none of the negative things I experienced with previous gas charged shocks. While Black max isn't a shock for heavy vehicles, or ones that routinely go fast over bumpy terrain, they work well for the way I drive.

You've sold me on them for my driving habits. Thanks.
p.s. Is next Wednesday too soon to drop my Jeep off and have you make my frame look like yours? The white paint I drove through didn't help either. ;) I couldn't afford your excellent detail work.

If your coming from a heavy , ( C6P ) 3/4 ton lifted square body like me. Then even my 2.5 lift TJ on hydraulic RS 5000
rides like a Sedan De Ville.

I'll be the odd man out and say Kings are the best shock. Maybe not the most practical but definitely one of the best off-road shocks in the business. I don't hear much about them on here but I plan to put some under mine.
I'll get there one day but it will be coilovers

On my street driven only TJ Unlimited I run a set of OMEs, on my rock buggy I run a set of Walker Evans air shocks tuned and set up by G Force racing out of East TN. They both do the job in there particular application.

I've only ever had stock shocks that were worn out by the time I got OME nitro sports (with load E tires). I know OME shocks are generally rated as over firm, but they feel a hell of a lot better than the old stock ones they replaced.

Would love to try out the Rancho 5000x to feel the difference.

Another vote for tuneable foxes. The rear is nice and planted and it soaks up a lot of the little, jarring hits. The bigger dips that I hit faster are absorbed quickly too and do not lead to a harsh and dramatic stop.

Otherwise my front Ranchos are soft and nice on the street.

FOX 2.0 IFP here. They are great. I've had two other sets (some no name and Rancho RS9000) so nothing great to compare to, but I really like them.
They made the biggest difference in ride quality/comfort, along with the softest/best springs available for the TJ — Forged in the mountains of Mordor.
