Midnight LJR's Affair

Thanks! I didn’t know about this tire size I will look into it.
Another tire to think about is the 33x9.5x15 from Kenda Klever RT. There are few forum members running it and for light trail use I am hearing it is OK. Not sure about heavy use in rocks and such. I have been curious about this tire. @BuildBreakRepeat has them in the 35x10.5 size and not sure if he has shared more feedback on offroad use elsewhere on the forum.

I have the C-rated BFG KO2 in 33x10.5x15 and they have been great for my use (very good in winter and wet roads, very good on all the FS roads I have driven on, even the rough ones, smooth on highway and wears evenly). I searched and I don't think I saw any other good AT tire in this size when I put these on.

I'm running the KO2's as well. I'm about half way thru the life of the tires. Been good so far, but now I want to go back to a mud terrain, lol!

I am considering switching to a mud terrain on my Jeep when the K02’s wear out. But my parents will be driving the Jeep around town in the winter so would like the snow rating on this Jeep.

I don't like MTRs on our roads here in the winter time. I have driven/ridden passenger in my friends' vehicles quite a few times with MTRs and you REALLY have to be careful on black ice. The less noise on hwys is a bonus lol.

Yeah southern Utah gets quite a bit of snow and a lot of ice. So will definitely be sticking to a tire with the snow rating for this one.

A lift! @Alex01 why are we just hearing about this?
Uncle Bob has more than just 1 two post lift, he also has a whole room full of grade 8 hardware. We did my front shocks up there and I believe something on Tom's LJ. It's just a 2.5hr drive.

Let’s make a weekend out of it and bring the bender we can make him a trailer bumper.

Dang...you guys out west have a different sense of time that we do. My buddies and I grouse about a 45 minute trip (30 miles) to do "Jeep Night" at one of our houses.

So since we want to replace every fluid on this thing figure might as well add in a transmission cooler and power steering cooler.

Planning to use @mrblaine power steering cooler in case we want to go PSC in the future. And figure it can’t hurt to keep power steering cool on these grippy Utah rocks.

Can anyone recommend a transmission cooler that will work good with this and a good temp gauge to go with the strange Jeep that shifts by itself?

Edit:
Ok looks like this is the cooler I will want.

Setrab is the one Blaine likes and uses.

The only other decent option that I have seen (and have in my current jeep) is the combo steering/trans cooler kit from PSC. @toximus also has this kit in one of his jeeps. It has been decent for me but it's not as good as Blaine's preferred options. The fittings are not as good as what Blaine does and I don't know how good it will hold up long term.

edit: I can't find this on PSC's website so not sure if it is still under production.

That seems to be a cool kit also! I have to talk to Blaine and see what is needed for fasteners and hoses etc.

Black Magic transmission cooler kit seems to be needed. :)

I've got all the details and parts listed in my red LJ build thread. I prefer it over the psc cooler kit.

I should have my mom buy and build a Jeep for me to 'borrow'. Excellent plan...

Well it will be at their second residence. So occasionally we will just be like. “Hey pop, nobody else wants to Jeep this weekend so the wife is gonna drive yours.” Need to go in pairs when wheeling to be safe ya know. 🤣

But really, parents are excited about it, they are hoping to hit some trails at TJ Fest next year.

Although my dad drove it today and called me and said. “This thing is like drive a 50 year old vehicle, you better replace everything.”

Told him “twist my arm why don’t ya!”.
