My 1997 TJ has recently started sputtering and dying… Starts up fine..idles fine… and then after about 15 minutes of driving it starts sputtering and then dies…. I replaced the fuel pump… I replaced the injectors… And it still happening… There is no check engine light on…. Thank you for your help

I forgot to mention that after letting it sit for about 10 minutes it starts back up and drives away fine for another 15 or 30 minutes and then does it again

Keep driving it until the check engine light comes on (which it will). Once that happens, scan it and report back with the code.

That will help much better than us just taking shots in the dark (y)

I’ve been waiting for a check engine light to come on it’s been probably 30 to 45 days now since it started and The check engine light has yet to come on… I don’t know what to do here

Take it to a mechanic and let him figure it out.

Sounds like a blockage in the fuel lines. I'd disconnect mine from the rail and tank and blow it out with compressed air...be careful really flammable.

How rusty are your fuel lines?

What's the condition of your injectors?

Have you tried running techron to clean out the system?

Do you have a Schrader valve on the fuel rail?

Have you monitored fuel pressure through the spluttering incidents?

I'd attach my gauge and run it through the cowl vent and tape it to the windshield.

I have had bad O2 sensors do all kind of weird things to performance. Easy to replace and cheap, but did not always trigger a check engine light.

Similar thing happened to me yesterday…. Crankshaft position sensor was going bad… tested and confirmed… a new NTK EH0173 crankshaft position sensor from rock auto will be here Wednesday…

I changed mine out and it fixed my issue sometimes even new sensors just won't jive with the ecm I had same thing with a Toyota truck changed out mass airflow sensor still had problem then changed out one thing after another till I had nothing left , tested the original part that I replaced and it tested within the tolerances so I went ahead and swapped it again anyway and it ran great so I DK
wish I could be more helpful

yeah the new CKPS i puit in made no difference. perhaps its the cheap masterpros i'm replacing it with? I'm back to thinking its a bum fuel pump. When i change it out tomorrow it will be my third one in like 4 weeks but its aside from changing out cam sensor or maybe a whole new ecu . im really stumped on this

i figured it out... Cracked exhaust man 🙃

today i high heat JB welded the crack and it still sputters to a stall. i am completely drained and out of ideas from this fucking gremlin.
i have another exhaust manifold on the way but i really dont feel like installing it if its ot going to fix anything
i guess ill try another fuel pump (this will be the 3rd)

So in the long run the crankshaft position sensor was not the problem… Mine ended up being the PCM was starting to go out… about two days after I replaced the crankshaft sensor it died in the road again and I had it towed to the house and begin the weeklong testing that led to the discovery that the PCM had completely gone out… hard to tell if it’s the PCM because it won’t throw any codes you have to check for voltages and grounds going to and from the PCM…The next time it dies check and see if you have 5 V coming from pin 17 on the black plug from your computer… that 5 Volts needs to be seen at five individual sensors including the crankshaft, Camshaft, idle, before it will start… no 5v out more than likely your pcm is toast… any voltage out of pin 17 other than 5v you probable have a short in one of the sensors…I replaced my PCM and it runs like a champ..

It looks like my pin 2 and 22 (fuse B+ and Ignition) dont have proper voltage. My jeep starts but after it comes to temp it will sputter and stall. what do i need to check?
