Suggestions for a minimalist front bumper?

Savvy 100%.

Not only is it lightweight aluminum, but it's about as minimal as it gets. It's also a damn fine looking front bumper as well.

Here it is on my old TJ:

Hi @Chris, I know this is old, but I like those sliders. Are they the stock Rubicon ones? Look different somehow.

Strength-wise, they're not something many would recommend being attached just to the body mount bolts.

For true protection, and you can find them with a similar looking rub-rail, I'd go strictly for those that bolt directly onto the tub. They strengthen the tub and the tub strengthens them.
I wouldn’t recommend them, I’m just sharing since he asked.

Looking to change out my front bumper to something that is smaller but has a winch mount and a way to attach my fairlead.

Any ideas or suggestions you guys have to help me find the right parts?

I don't seem to have a good way of cutting this one up and welding it to my liking, I think maybe it's best to start over.

Here's a picture of what what I have now.

i dont know, might be kinda fun to just cut this one up(or off)and just retain the structure needed to properly support an operational winch...just lop off those flyin'dubbya wings and youre ahead of the weight game...just make sure you cap off any channel iron after cutting to increase integrity etc dont throw away them wing-caps tho,you could resalvage their purpose i bet

Motobilt is on sale again but ruff stuff popped up in my email today. They have a newer tj front bumper. I was looking at a bit more and it doesn't seem to bad.

I am not sure if it would clear a sway lock or antirock but it does bolt using the both sway bar bolts. You need to actually trim the bumper a bit for the Mercedes boxes, notching a small v. It seems to be closer to what people are modifying the motobilt bumper into.

Has anyone run this one? $402 with optional clevis mounts. $460 w shipping and weighs 47 pounds. 1/4 steel

Motobilt is $375ish on sale with the Fairled mount and shipping. Weight isn't listed on their site. 3/16 steel.

RS is confused on the notching. That would be for any TJ 03-06 to clear the pressure line.

One thing it is very likely missing is the stiffener on the bottom of the bumper that contacts the crossmember.

Yeah I saw that. Lj's only. 🤣

Yeah I doubt it has that but neither does motobilt. Just noticed it was one of the few bumpers out there that seem to at least incorporate both sway bar bolts too.

The only thing I have ran in the past from ruff stuff was leaf spring mounts and shackles but it's pretty hard to mess that product up. Some companies do though.

That bumper would have saved me a lot of work, but I also only paid $289 for my Motobilt stubby, including the fairlead mount and recovery points.

It's probably not worth the difference then. But they do have dales so not sure what the best price is on it. Motobilt dips down to that 289 price once or twice a year I think.

I forget the cost for Savvy, but after doing mine, I would encourage others to just go all the way and buy the Savvy.

Don't make me defend the indefensible! 🤣

Yes — I am waiting for an email that their front bumper is available and I have been for quite a while!
I would just check the website daily. That's what I do now lol. I had an email set up for their lj sliders and it never came. I just happen to check the website and it showed 4 in stock and I bought one. This about a month ago.

I'm just practicing patience now.

I’ve been waiting for bumpers for a long time and I check on occasion. Your post does not bring me joy.
