Car pics too cool not to share

This belongs to my FIL. 1970 Chevelle SS with the original 454 LS6 and 4spd manual. He bought it brand new when he got out of the Navy. My wife and I have been wanting to buy it but can't afford it. He takes it out every now and then in the summer, but for the most part it sits in their garage. As far as I know, its a numbers matching car. He took me for a spin last year and boy was it a blast.

I'm pretty sure my neighbor would consider killing for a car like that. He had a '68 396 car that he somewhat spontaneously decided to sell about 10 years ago. He's regretted it since, and the prices jumped to a point where he's out of the market.

I'd kill for it! He has had it listed for quite a while with interested parties, but each time we show up for visits the car is still in their garage. At one point (and not long ago) he had 9 Chevelles parked throughout their property. Over the years he has sold them off to fund their traveling.

Its interesting when you look back on what you've sold over the years and wished you hadn't. Sometimes you really just dont know what the market (for anything) is going to be in the future.

I hear stuff like that a lot. Personally, I've only sold 1 vehicle so far. My friend who is 70 now, and has been in the body shop/custom restoration business since he was 14, has probably gone through a few hundred cars over the years. He's had some high dollar (now) cars like a Boss 302, several (real) '69 Z28s, many big block Corvettes and Camaros, some nice tri-fives and even a few MoPars. He says if he could have the money from any of those cars today he'd quit painting. But I always remind him that I have a few more for him to paint. :)

I've never been a big fan of the BowTie cars, but I do have a couple of favorites. To me, a '70 SS Chevelle is absolutely the toughest looking of them all. They just look like muscle, to me. And then the '69 SS Chevelle is a truly beautiful car. There's almost an elegance to them that the '68 doesn't quite have. Your FIL's '70 is worth waiting for. Just work on being his favorite SIL... ;)

While I agree the 70 Chevelle is tough looking this is my favorite. My neighbor one when I was a kid had one and I wanted to buy it SO BAD. 1967 SS
