My ‘04 LJ just up and died on me while I was driving down the road. I got it home and started to check things out, and found no pressure to the inlet of the injected rail. I figure the fuel pump had given up. I replaced the fuel pump, and still didn’t have any pressure. I realized the pump wasn’t even running. Replaced the relay and it didn’t fix it. I jumpered the relay contacts and the pump works great. While doing some more checking, I noticed that the light for the key with the circle and line through it was staying on. I figured the imobilizer module went bad. Ordered a new one and installed it. Had a lock smith come and program the keys, and he said they were successfully programmed. The light is still on and my Jeep won’t run.
Does anybody have any experience with this, or know of a good mechanic that might know how to get my Jeep to run. I’m working on getting a tow bar set up so I can tow wherever I need to get it fixed.

Just for clarification neither you nor the locksmith started the vehicle after he programmed the keys?

No the jeep would not start after the keys were programmed. There are no codes. No check engine light, just the no key with the right chip there and the gas tank light.

Check for oil pressure and/or a bad oil pressure switch, pump wont get activated until oil pressure is detected.

I swapped the sad relay and that didn’t do anything. Is there anything else I can try or use that somebody might know about, before I have to break down and drag it up to the dealership, and pay through the nose for them to guess at it too?

Generally you can't just swap the skim key module and program the keys and make it work. If you have the key icon the skim module is still your problem. I think you need somebody with the correct tools and knowledge to get skim working again, it's not generally something the average locksmith has a clue about.

To my knowledge, locksmiths program keys by cloning them, not by actually connecting them to the skim.

There's a "replaced skim" procedure in the drb3 tool to remarry your new skim to the ecm.

When I had a skim connected that hadn't been programmed, the rig still started but it shut down after 2 seconds, just as it was settling down to idle.
