Savvy gas tank skid backorder

What would be the other options if you didn’t want to wait or tie up your money? What is the next best thing to the Savvy aluminum armor products and skids?

2003 and up 1/8 thick factory gas tank skid is all I know. Metal cloak makes one is real heavy and expensive also. I don’t wanna add any more weight. I am gonna wait a couple more months if not I am just gonna go for the factory one thicker. I’m just an overbuilt trail 01 anyways.

Given the title of this thread, I'm considering canceling my Savvy gas tank skid order and going with UCF. When I added the Savvy GTS I saw 1 3/8" improvement in clearance. UCF says you get a 1" improvement. In my case, the difference is likely the 1.25" BL.

Although the 3/16" UCF skid is pricier than Savvy, by the time you factor in shipping, it's comparable. Also, you can order the UCF skid in 1/4". I can't speak to how it holds up compared to Savvy, but can't imagine the difference is that significant. FWIW, the one benefit I see with the Savvy GTS, unlike the UCF, is the ability to run it with or without a BL. On the plus side the UCF skid, 3/16", claims to be 12 lbs lighter than Savvy (I'm not sure I trust the advertised number).

I have the UCF GTS. It's a nice piece, tucks the tank up about an inch. I originally wanted the Savvy skid, but it was on intergalactic backorder.

I know it’s a thread about gas tank skids, but I’m looking to ditch my steel body armor for aluminum to lighten up the Jeep. I’m thinking maybe go with Genright corner armor and mini boat side rockers but would rather get the Savvy armor.

I’m going to wait a little while as I still need to do the raised body mounts and a few other things before I tackle armor. I just know that getting rid of it is really going to help me shave some Lbs.

Is there a big difference between the 2 other than body lift height adjustments on the savvy?

I know both are available in aluminum. Does savvy have more track bar clearance or adjustability?

Some of the bends on the UCF look too sharp to really be 6061-t6, which makes me question that claim the same way Genright lies about their aluminum bumpers.

Our choices are either a steel skid or their "not really 6061-t6" aluminum skid. 😉
I’ve got the aluminum one sitting in the garage. Someday I’ll see how well it holds up to my savvy on the other Jeep.

I've seen how their bumper crumples and tears apart. That was one of a few reasons I didn't want to try to make the stretch tank work.

I mean the photos on their site clearly show 6061-t6 on the skid. I dont know if it is still being made with 6061-t6 with current orders. We all know website photos and actual products can vary it seems.

It's in the vertical sections where my questions are.

I wonder if the vertical sides need that grade of aluminum? How much stronger or weaker do you think it would be? Genuinely asking out of curiosity.

With all this savvy out stock stuff popping up lately I am worried there out of stock items maybe out for a while or permanently. So looking for the next best thing.

I was really hoping to pick up their belly skid but it's been oos for a long time with no backorder option.
