Is May the National Fuckwit Month?

Reminds me of the DMV. My wife needed to pay a registration fee and called them (first mistake). They charge extra to use a credit or ATM card. It's less expensive to send them a check.

So you have to pay someone to open the envelope and process the check. The Credit or ATM card gets charged immediately with no labor?

This logic is why I almost got thrown out of the DMV last time I was there for yelling. That place is a shit show.
This is because it takes a union member to open the mail. The more union members the more political power and money the union leaders have. The Republic of California is run by the public employee unions and it is one of the root causes of the shit in this state.

I see nothing wrong there. A flag or turn on the running lights of that SUV would be a courtesy.
A couple months ago, I saw a car headed towards me on a two lane highway with what was probably a collapsed 16 foot extension ladder laying across the back seat. Both rear windows were open.

There is no probably. I've been looking for 2 years. I've avoided FB because I don't like that selling platform. So, it is either lower my standards or do without. The worst part is there is likely 20 carport companies in a 30 mile radius that make, use, and sell the same shit. They don't list prices for material. If you ask, you get a price for a whole carport delivered and installed, same price whether you do it that way or piece it out and throw away what you don't use.

That or they price the material at fuck off prices. I got one quote from them for 10 pieces of 2 1/2" square galvanized 14 gauge to do another project with. 2000 dollars. Yeah, I get it, go away and quit bothering us.
@mrblaine

you ever try to hire a handyman to do some basic shit that you don’t have time or dont want to tackle?

getting these clowns to work is a real fucking rodeo. i do t understand, you show up, bid the job, then don’t want to actually come and do the job and get paid? then complain how gas prices are killing you? Hey shitbag, show up at 6am and complete the job in a day……..profit

its not that hard

now I remember why I just do everything by myself

I have tried for years. I've given up. I struggle just to get someone to cut weeds, rake a few leaves and bag it for the pile out front. I paid 400 to the old man and his younger wife across the street to do it last time. She works circles around him or it would be 100 bucks.

Fuck - try to get a contractor to do anything on time. 6 months to do a 2 month job - absolutely zero sense of urgency, obviously hasn't a fucking clue what a Gantt chart is - or even a Venn diagram for that matter. Then, I decided as the weather here is warming up that I didn't really want to do the exterior painting on this addition - a pretty small job. If the thing had been done even vaguely close to when it was supposed to be done, this wouldn't have been an issue. In any event, tried to get my Son in Law to do the painting - he's painted for me before, is good at it, blah, blah. He totally flakes out and leaves me hanging. Fuck it - I'm painting the damn thing myself, I want this job DONE. Have I mentioned that I *hate* painting? Already painted the inside which was a much bigger job than the outside is, am just tired of it. Got mild heatstroke today, but was able to dance it off in dance class tonite...

I almost became an electrician like my late father - I probably would have done well with it. Instead, I got into electronics/computers and was a PFDL instead. Pink Fingered Desk Lizard...

general contractors here are out to 9 months or more to build a 2500 sf house. The new excuse of course is COVID. If my house and financial future wasn't in their hands I wouldn't hesitate to tell them no, it's because you can't plan for shit and you wait for the current thing to be complete before you give a single thought to what has to be done next. They should make gantt charts and project planning part of the GC licensure process. Today from what I can tell is you can be a GC if you have enough subcontractors phone numbers to finish a house.

I had a house built in 2012 that was done in 6 months, and I still remember there being multiple periods of 2 weeks where not a single worker set foot on site. I'm just about convinced that if a full days work was completed every weekday, a house this size could be completed in less than 90 days.
